Warning: Contains SPOILERS for Succession season 4, episode 7!
Succession season 4, episode 7 is finally out, and here are the episode’s biggest story reveals and Roy family twists. Succession is getting closer and closer to its series finale, meaning that things are finally starting to heat up in season 4, episode 7. Succession season 4, episode 7 was packed full of set-ups, reveals, and explosive moments, with the series speeding towards its ultimate conclusion. So, here are all of the important twists and turns in Succession season 4, episode 7, and how they will influence the future of the series.
Succession season 4 has already been a wild ride, with it featuring things like Shiv’s love triangle, the looming GoJo merger, and even the death of series antagonist Logan Roy. Succession season 4, episode 7 picks up right where the previous episode left off, with the Roy siblings continuing to deal with the upcoming GoJo acquisition as well as the fallout of the events surrounding the investor day meeting. The majority of episode 7 takes place during a party at Shiv and Tom’s penthouse, with many Waystar Royco employees and other wealthy individuals showing up to tailgate the election. However, a surprise guest shows up: GoJo CEO Lukas Matsson.
Kendall’s Daughter Was Pushed In The Street Because Of ATN & The Election
Although ATN has always been a big part of Succession, the upcoming election has caused the fictional news network to play an even larger role in Succession season 4’s story. During the episode, Kendall is asked to meet by his ex-wife, Rava. Rava tells him that their daughter was pushed in the street by a group wearing Jeryd Mencken shirts. Mencken is the presidential candidate that is heavily favored by ATN, with Rava hoping that Kendall can do something about the conservative news network’s influence.
Kendall is furious when he hears about the incident, even partially blaming Rava for not being there during the conflict. This leads to the two turning the conversation away from their daughter as they argue about seemingly unrelated topics. Although Kendall puts on a big show, it is doubtful that he will have Waystar Royco change anything about ATN, with the heated political race only getting nastier as election day approaches.
Matsson Reveals GoJo’s Subscriber Growth Was Massively Inflated
One of the biggest revelations in Succession season 4, episode 7 is that GoJo’s growth rate of new subscribers has been massively overinflated. GoJo’s rising star status is what has allowed it to get far into its acquisition of Waytstar Royco, and now that the company’s inflated numbers are starting to be made known, it’s possible that everything could change. This revelation could seriously help Kendall Roy’s new plan, with him discussing the possibility of flipping the deal so that Waystar Royco can buy GoJo. There are still a lot of questions surrounding the GoJo deal, but Matsson’s revelation will seriously shake things up in the future.
Matsson & Shiv Tell Everyone Tom May Be Fired From ATN
Although Tom was one of the most powerful figures at Waystar Royco after his Succession season 3 betrayal, the tides are starting to turn. Amidst the looming acquisition of Waystar by GoJo, the higher-ups have started to worry about job security, and it seems that Tom might be getting the axe. While making small talk at the party, Tom discovers that Lukas Matsson and Shiv have been telling people that Tom may not be with the company in the future. This is news to Tom, who planned on staying, with this discovery making things worse in Tom and Shiv’s already tumultuous relationship.
Connor May Drop Out Of The Presidential Race… And Move To Oman
Connor Roy is the black sheep of Succession‘s main family, but one story has dominated his arc throughout the series: the presidential race. However, only hours away from the polls opening, Roman decides to make a strategic move by asking Connor to drop out of the race. Connor’s 1% is vital to Mencken’s success, and in return for dropping out of the race, Roman tells Connor that he can get him a political job in a foreign country. After some push and pull, the two agree on Oman. However, Connor’s last appearance in the episode features him saying he may stay in the election.
Roman Will Speak At Logan Roy’s Funeral
Logan Roy’s funeral still hasn’t happened yet, with Succession season 4, episode 7 revealing that Roman Roy will be speaking at the ceremony. This is surprising due to the Roy siblings’ troubled relationships with their father, although Roy was always the closest to Logan. However, with Roman’s big mouth and troublemaking attitude, things could go horribly wrong.
Roman speaking at Logan Roy’s funeral could cause even more drama between the Roy siblings, who all disagree on the legacy of their father. Roman loves him, Kendall hates him, and Shiv just wants Waystar Royco to move forward. These three different perspectives have caused the three siblings to clash in the past, and with something as emotional as Logan Roy’s funeral, this conflict seems likely to arise again.
Shiv & Tom’s Marriage Breaks Apart Even More
Coming out of Succession season 4, episode 6, Shiv and Tom’s relationship seemed better than ever, with the two finally sleeping together again for the first time in a while. However, the couple comes out of episode 7 in an even worse spot, with the two loudly airing their grievances with one another during their heated fight on the balcony. This fight not only leads to an early end for their party, but it breaks the couple apart even more, seemingly making things worse than they were after the season 3 betrayal.
During the fight, Tom even makes mention of the fact that Shiv won’t have his baby, hinting at a storyline fans have been theorizing about since the beginning of Succession season 4. Early in the season, there were several hints that Shiv was pregnant, although this story hasn’t been brought up in several episodes. Tom’s comment could confirm that Shiv is (or was) indeed pregnant, although that may have changed sometime since her phone call with the doctor.
Kendall & Frank Plot To Have Waystar Buy GoJo
One of the last scenes in Succession season 4, episode 7 features a conversation between Kendall and Frank that reveals their next strategic move. Although Kendall initially only hoped to stop GoJo’s buyout of Waystar Royco, Kendall now has ambitions for Waystar Royco to actually buy GoJo. It isn’t yet known how feasible this is, but with Kendall’s sharp business mind and Lukas Matsson’s various controversies, it’s possible that Succession season 4 could end with Waystar Royco bigger than ever.
New episodes of Succession air Sundays on HBO.
