Undisputed Super Middleweight kingpin Saul “Canelo” Alvarez makes his long-awaited return to a Mexican ring tonight (Sat., May 6, 2022) when he takes on challenger John Ryder in his native Guadalajara.
MMAmania.com will deliver LIVE coverage of the Canelo vs. Ryder main event below. The PPV main card broadcast kicks off on DAZN PPV at 7 p.m. ET, while Canelo and Ryder are expected to make their ring walks around 10 p.m. ET.
This marks Canelo’s second defense as undisputed champ, having completed the collection with 2021’s knockout of Caleb Plant and subsequently turned aside rival Gennadiy Golovkin in their third meeting. Ryder, meanwhile, claimed the WBO interim title and a mandatory title shot with a November 2022 injury stoppage of then-unbeaten Zach Parker.
Other PPV action sees Julio Cesar Martinez defend his WBC Flyweight belt against Ronal Batista, Stevie Spark look to continue his rise against dangerous spoiler Gabriel Gollaz Valenzuela, and Oleksandr Gvozdyk take on the battle-tested Ricards Bolotniks.
