Celebrity-backed health optimization platform Lifeforce scores $12M

Lifeforce, a personalized healthcare platform based on a telehealth model, completed a $12 million Series A funding round co-led by M13 and Peterson Ventures.

Ridgeline Ventures, Rosecliff Ventures and Seaside Ventures also participated in the round.

WHAT THEY DO

The company, cofounded by motivational speaker Tony Robbins and backed by professional tennis player Serena Williams, offers its members a personalized health platform based on a telehealth model.

Members undergo in-home diagnostic blood tests performed every three months by phlebotomists. Biomarkers associated with physical, psychological, cognitive and sexual performance are analyzed. Via a telehealth consultation with a clinician, members discuss the test results and receive recommendations on lifestyle adjustments and supplement recommendations.

Dr. Mark Hyman, the head of strategy and innovation of the Cleveland Clinic Center for Functional Medicine, and Dr. Fatima Cody Stanford, weight management expert and associate professor at Harvard Medical School, also back Lifeforce.

The California-based company will use the funds to accelerate growth, advance data tools and expand its offerings.

“Lifeforce is poised to have a transformative impact, not just redefining the health optimization category but the very way we think about what’s possible as we age,” Courtney Reum, Lifeforce board chairman and cofounder at M13, said in a statement. “Demand for personalized, proactive healthcare is growing exponentially and the team’s collective expertise in health, technology and business uniquely positions Lifeforce to meet this demand.”

MARKET SNAPSHOT

Serena Williams has backed other digital health startups, including virtual and in-office healthcare provider Juno Medical, which raised $12 million in Series A funding in December. The round was co-led by the tennis star’s Serena Ventures.=

Juno Medical is a healthcare service provider that offers on-site appointments with physicians at their two New York-based brick-and-mortar facilities and virtual services for patients in New York and Georgia.

The company offers individual and family care, wellness, specialty care, and on-site labs and imaging services.

Williams also backed Tonal, an AI-powered exercise-machine service, which M13 also invested in.
