A new teaser trailer for the second season of Dark Winds has been released. The teaser is brief, lasting less than a minute long, though it does tease some of the tense moments that will be coming early on in the new season. Also revealed is the release window for season 2, which the teaser touts as coming to AMC and AMC+ in July. You can go ahead and check out that new teaser below.
Per Deadline, season 2 will follow Lt. Joe Leaphorn (Zahn McClarnon) and private eye Jim Chee (Kiowa Gordon) reuniting when in pursuit of the same suspect. The two “find themselves in the high desert of Navajo Country chasing a killer who’s turned his sights on them to protect a secret that rips open old wounds and challenges Leaphorn’s moral and professional code. With the help of Sgt. Manuelito (Jessica Matten) and Valencia County Sheriff Gordo Sena, Leaphorn and Chee must thwart their would-be assassin and restore balance not only to their own lives but to the reservation that depends on them.”
“After putting his son’s death to rest, season 1 ends with Leaphorn parting ways with Chee, but season 2 brings them back together along with Manuelito to solve a spree of murders on the Navajo Nation,” McClarnon also teases of season 2.
Dark Winds Season 2 Brings in Guest Stars
Some of the guest stars set to appear in season 2 of Dark Winds have been revealed. Jeri Ryan (Star Trek: Picard) will play Rosemary Vines, a “femme fatale” who leaves a “trail of bodies in her wake.” Meanwhile, Nicholas Logan (Dopesick) will play the character Colton Wolf, an assassin who encounters Lt. Leaphorn.
Along with McClarnon, Gordon, and Matten, the series also stars Deanna Allison, Rainn Wilson, Elva Guerra, Jeremiah Bitsui, Eugene Brave Rock, and Noah Emmerich. Created by Graham Roland, the show is executive produced by Roland, McClarnon, George R. R. Martin, Robert Redford, Anne Hillerman, Tina Elmo, Vince Gerardis, Vince Calandra, and Chris Eyre. The series is based on the Leaphorn & Chee book series by Tony Hillerman.
“This once-in-a-lifetime creative team and cast have delivered something truly special with Dark Winds,” an AMC statement read when the show was renewed for season 2 last summer. We can’t wait to share the rest of this thrill ride of a first season with the fans and follow Joe Leaphorn and Jim Chee into a second season on AMC and AMC+ next year. Overwhelming gratitude to our entire production team and a special thanks to executive producers Robert Redford, George R.R. Martin, Chris Eyre and of course Zahn McClarnon, who also leads the cast and brings humanity, authority and the wisdom of richly lived experiences to everything he does.”
The second season of Dark Winds will premiere on AMC and AMC+ in July with an exact date yet to be announced. Given how we’re almost halfway to June, a full trailer is likely to be coming soon.
