Once again, Pixar Animation is ready to amaze the world with a story with a message about tolerance and acceptance with Elemental, which hits theaters on June 21, but has already wowed Cannes Film Festival attendees.
Turning
Red
exclusively on Disney + and the not-so-successful passage of
Lightyear
in theaters, the
studio returns to the big screen
at the hand of
The
Good
Dinosaur’s
director Peter Sohn. Leah Lewis (
The
Half
of
It
) and Mamoudou Athie (
Jurassic
World:
Dominion
) lead a voice cast that includes other big names like Ronnie del Carmen, Shila Ommi, Mason Wertheimer, Wendi McLendon-Covey and Catherine O’Hara.
The story of Elemental follows Ember and Wade, a fire girl and a water boy who live in a world where the elements coexist in the same place, but they should not mix. Upon meeting and falling in love, they must learn about each other, to love themselves, to accept their differences and unite their communities showing that what they share is much greater than what separates them.
Elemental Gets Positive and Emotive Reactions from Cannes Attendees
Like many other movies this year, the Cannes Film Festival hosted the premiere of Disney Pixar’s latest movie, and they will be hoping an early reaction can get people excited for the film’s theatrical debut. Here are some of the first reactions to the movie:
“ELEMENTAL is not only one of the better Pixar films in recent memory but one of their best overall.”
“Absolute magic and the soundtrack is amazing.”
“The story has been done before (think Zootopia but with Water & Fire) but there’s charming characters, creative set-pieces & Newman’s gorgeous score is spiritual.”
“Still, it’s beautifully animated and the score is magical. A lot to love, but not perfect.”
“Charming, funny & poignant!”
“I enjoyed Pixar’s Elemental though it never really reached the heights I was hoping.”
“The animation is uniquely fluid, a rich way of resolving these characters visually while the story swims along.”
