Ramona Singer has officially signed on for The Real Housewives of New York City legacy show, and she thinks the new series is a great idea. She was the only RHONY housewife to appear as a full-time cast member for all 13 seasons, and has been an iconic part of the show from the beginning. After the Big Apple franchise was put on hold due to an unsuccessful season 13, Ramona’s future on reality TV was uncertain. To make matters worse, one of the reasons why the show was rebooted and recast for RHONY season 14 was because of Ramona’s racist microaggressions toward fellow cast member, Eboni K. Williams.
The new series will officially be called The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: RHONY Legacy, which is a different concept than the one originally created. Instead of a full-length reality series, RHONY alums will be taken on a RHUGT-style vacation to the same house in St. Barts from the season 5 cast trip. In an interview with Access Hollywood, Ramona heavily supported doing the show in this format.
Since Ramona has been away from reality TV for a while, she was relieved to be able to commit differently than she had in the past. “It’s going to be fabulous. To me, doing a whole show again for three months, 20 episodes is too daunting for me,” she noted, referring to how time-consuming it was to film RHONY. “Now, just to go on a fabulous trip for one week, that’s like the perfect thing. It’s fabulous.”
Ramona Changed Her Mind About Appearing On RHUGT: RHONY Legacy
After receiving backlash for her ignorant behavior on RHONY season 13, Ramona stepped away from reality TV to focus on her personal life. However, it seems as though she changed her mind with the new casting announcement of RHUGT: RHONY Legacy, which she previously called the “loser legacy” show. “Bravo has been very good to me, and this is a brilliant idea,” Ramona reiterated, noting that her favorite moments from starring on RHONY are what convinced her to return for the legacy show. “Our best ratings were when we went on those trips to Morocco, or St. Thomas, or wherever we went. So this is going to be great.”
It will be interesting to see if Ramona has truly changed since her time on RHONY ended. Luann de Lesseps, Sonja Morgan, Dorinda Medley, Kelly Bensimon, and Kristen Taekman will be joining her on RHUGT: RHONY Legacy. Each of the women have filmed with Ramona before, and are used to the OG’s so-called “Ramonaisms.” In the past, Ramona seemed to have the most trouble with newer cast members such as Eboni and Leah McSweeney, so being in a familiar territory like St. Barts with cast members she already knows may bring out a positive side to her.
Ramona seems excited to appear on The Real Housewives of New York City legacy series, and is optimistic about the experience. She’s been spending a lot of time with other alums like Luann and Dorinda, so hopefully there will be less drama on the trip and more fun. With the show set to film this summer and air possibly next year, more updates from Ramona could be revealed soon, either on social media or her new podcast.
