The engines are almost ready to run since the release of Transformers: Rise of the Beats is only one month away. And with the debut of Steven Caple Jr.’s movie just around the corner, the surprising runtime of the newest installment in the franchise is revealed.
Collider confirms that Rise of the Beats will have the Transformers fighting on the big screen 117 minutes, or one hour and 57 minutes, which is shorter than most franchise movies nowadays.
Except for The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which is mainly considered for kids, films like Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Shazam! Fury of the Gods or Dungeons & Dragons have surpassed the two hours. In fact, the upcoming Little Mermaid live-action remake which is also a family film, is set to run for two hours, becoming the longest live-action adaptation from Disney.
The Transformers movies were also part of this group, with most of them going far beyond the two hours barrier except for Bumblebee, the latest installment before Rise of the Beasts, which was three minutes shorter than the upcoming one.
This film will seek to give the franchise a new start despite working as a sequel to Bumblebee and a prequel to the 2007 installment. From it, a new universe of interconnected films and series will be built that will focus on different characters of the brand.
In fact, an animated movie focused on the origins of the popular enemies Optimus Prime and Megatron has already been confirmed, making clear the expansion intentions of the franchise.
