Samuel L. Jackson Hints at a More Vulnerable and Human Nick Fury in Secret Invasion
The new look for Nick Fury in Secret Invasion will be a departure from the character’s previous appearances. In an interview with Empire Magazine, Samuel L. Jackson opened up about the Secret Invasion version of Nick Fury, describing him as more raw, real, and vulnerable than previous iterations of the character. Jackson also discussed how the series presented a unique opportunity to humanize Fury, a character that many people view as superhuman.
“Here you have a guy who’s showing his face, and showing his age. It’s an opportunity to humanize someone that everybody thinks is superhuman. I had to figure out some stuff and work out some new things, which I’ve been trying to do for a while. It’s great to have an opportunity to find out who he was and delve into how much of a toll his job actually takes on his personal life.”
Since his first appearance in the post-credits scene of Iron Man in 2008, Nick Fury has been a central figure in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Avengers team. However, in the upcoming Secret Invasion series, set to debut on Disney+ on June 21, Jackson’s character will be seen in a different light, showcasing a version of Fury that fans have never seen before.
