Getting cast as Supergirl in The Flash has resulted in Sasha Calle getting some nifty merchandise bearing her likeness, and that includes an all-new officially-licensed Barbie doll version of the character. On Twitter, Calle shared some images along with a video clip showing off her new Supergirl Barbie doll. She admits in the caption she’s not quite sure “how to act” with the doll, and one thing she’s decided to do with it, as seen in her video, is to play with the mini-Supergirl, having her fly alongside a LEGO Batmobile. What’s evident here is that the doll has made Calle very, very happy. You can see the post below.
Her tweet reads, “There’s a [Barbie] that looks like me.. I don’t know how to act. I’ve been taking her everywhere.. flying around and imagining laser eyes haha. Abrazos enormes!! Todavía no me la creo.”
Calle has been pretty open on social media about her excitement for The Flash. The movie will mark her first appearance int he role of Supergirl, and when the trailer was released in February, the young actress shared to Twitter how amazed she was to see herself in the red-and-blue tights in the film. Sharing the trailer, Calle called playing the role one of her “greatest honors” and is looking forward to June 16 when the highly anticipated film is finally released.
What Will Happen With Supergirl After The Flash?
For now, it’s unclear what will happen with Calle and her version of Supergirl after the release of The Flash. There are no plans set in stone for her to reprise the role for a sequel or spinoff series, but it hasn’t been ruled out either. James Gunn and Peter Safran have announced a Supergirl movie as a part of their plans for the DCU, but they haven’t yet decided if that will be Calle’s Supergirl or if they’ll be rebooting and casting someone new for the project, as Gunn is doing with Superman: Legacy.
“We’re figuring it all out. We don’t know yet,” Gunn and Safran said at the start of the year when addressing Calle’s future. “We’re pretty far away from Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.”
The Flash launching to great success could lean toward Calle returning as Supergirl. There has been a great deal of excitement from fans about the film, certainly in part due to the long-awaited return of Michael Keaton as Batman, given how he hasn’t played that role in nearly three decades. There has also been a certain level of controversy surrounding Ezra Miller’s involvement, given the criminal charges and various allegations of problematic behavior that have been leveled against them. It’s hard to say at this point exactly how The Flash will turn out at the box office when it finally gets released after multiple delays.
The Flash will be heading to movie theaters on June 16, 2023.
