My 600-lb Life season 11 star Latonya Pottain is memorable, and it’s time to talk about her life after the popular TV series. Her weight loss journey on the show ended with Dr. Younan Nowzaradan, known as Dr. Now, telling her that there was nothing that he could do for her because she wouldn’t comply with his program. When the episode began, Latonya, a 37-year-old from Shreveport, Louisiana, was 632 pounds. She revealed that she’d met with Dr. Now five years before, but did not follow through with his program.
During her time on My 600-lb Life season 11, Latonya had a support system consisting of her fiance Daune, her nephew Adrian, and her caretaker, Virgie. However, each time the My 600-Lb Life star met with Dr. Now, she’d gained weight, rather than losing the required pounds to qualify for weight loss surgery. The only time she slimmed down during the episode was when Dr. Now hospitalized her due to a dangerous heart issue, while she was on a controlled diet. Dr. Now told her she had to lose 60 pounds at home, or he could no longer work with her.
Latonya Pottain’s Still Working On Her Weight Loss Journey
In a January 24 Facebook post, Latonya announced that her My 600-lb Life episode would air in February. Latonya wrote that her story would help others, but added, “no I have not reached my goal but I’m working on me.” In a February 12 TikTok video, Latonya revealed that she’s still doing the weight loss program. She also shared that she and Daune are still together. Latonya added that the negative feedback doesn’t bother her. However, she appreciates all the positive thoughts sent her way. She said she is currently seeing a psychiatrist and, “working on her past.”
Latonya Pottain’s Caretaker Virgie Passed Away
In a February 11 Facebook post, Latonya paid tribute to her beloved caretaker, Virgie. The caregiver cooked for her, helped her bathe, and was one of her biggest cheerleaders during her weight loss journey. She was kind, gentle, and devoted to helping Latonya enhance her well-being. Latonya shared a photograph of Virgie and wrote, “As I look at ur picture and the tears fall I miss u my love but I can hear u saying life is hard but it’s fair hunny.” She concluded the post with, “Get ur rest….. I love you.”
Although Latonya failed in her My 600-lb Life episode, she seems to continue trying to lose weight. With any luck, she’ll be more successful in the future, because Dr. Now said that her life depends on it. Currently, Latonya is working on her 2023 goals, which include opening a girls’ home in Shreveport, and qualifying for weight loss surgery. Hopefully the My 600 Lb-Life star will find the strength to achieve her goals.
My 600-lb Life airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET on TLC.
