Kane Lim used to be a fan favorite, but he rubbed some the wrong way during Bling Empire season 3. The 32-year-old real estate developer hails from Singapore and now considers Los Angeles home. The reality star worked alongside the Oppenheim Group, the real estate firm from Selling Sunset on Netflix. Kane announced on Bling Empire that he was asked to be the face of Fenty Beauty, but it was difficult to be happy for him due to his attitude last season.
All the drama on Bling Empire season 3 seemed to lead back to Kane. He got Jaime Xie to fight with Christine Chiu in episode 1, stirred the pot between Mimi Morris and Christine over a lunch date, and talked behind everyone’s backs. Last season’s storylines had a forced quality, and this may be because Kane single-handedly triggered problems among cast members. While Christine used to be public enemy number one, Kane took that spot after he continued to turn the rest of the cast against her throughout the season.
Bling Empire Fans Called Out Kane’s Actions
A lot was missing from Bling Empire season 3, making it a lackluster season. Although Anna was the main villain of Bling Empire season 3, Reddit users found many cast members unlikable in the last season, especially Kane. On a thread started by Background-Ad2275, a Redditor said, “Kane is the worst! He’s so manipulative and gaslights everyone!” Fans felt he took it too far when he called Christine a liar after she missed a lunch date to pick her son up from school, despite video evidence that showed her doing exactly that.
Kane Lim Was Shallow
Kane has been called shallow, as he seemed to flaunt his wealth more than other cast members. On the same thread, someone said, “Kane centering himself in the middle of everything and manipulating storylines is incredibly gross.” In previous seasons of Bling Empire, he brought witty one-liners to the show and snarky comments that were funny, but he seems more mean-spirited now. Many wanted him to leave the show because he’s ruined the season; however, now that Bling Empire and Bling Empire New York are canceled, fans kind of got their wish.
While Kane’s actions in Bling Empire season 3 were inexcusable, he was a necessary element of the series. Whether he was bringing the drama, Kane was at the center of things, as he was connected to every cast member. He was best friends with Kevin Kreider and Kelly Mi Li, good friends with Mimi, and “frenemies” with Christine. Unfortunately, a redemption arc isn’t in the cards for Kane, as Netflix canceled Bling Empire for a fourth season.
