Making its debut in 2014, 90 Day Fiancé was unlike anything viewers had seen before, and the franchise has grown by leaps and bounds since then. 90 Day Fiancé Season 1 was the OG, and in many ways, that season set the tone for the future of the series. Viewers were introduced to the K-1 visa process and saw firsthand just how difficult it is to move to another country. However, there were also many differences between the first season and the rest of the series. One main difference being the 90 Day Fiancé Season 1 couples who stayed together.
90 Day Fiancé Season 1 Couples Are Still Together
Shockingly, all of the couples featured in 90 Day Fiancé Season 1 are still together, despite how rocky their time on the show was. Viewers who are more familiar with later seasons may be surprised by the Season 1 success rate. This was not too uncommon in the earlier seasons, but after nine seasons and many spin offs, fans have come to accept breakups as the norm. Sometimes it seems as though the franchise has shifted away from depicting love stories to showcase explosive drama instead.
Russ & Paola Mayfield
The most dramatic couple from 90 Day Fiancé Season 1 is, perhaps, the most surprising to still see together. Russ and Paola Mayfield seemed mismatched during their first season of the show, leading to doubts that they would get married at all. Paola didn’t fit in with Russ’ more conservative family, while Russ had trouble with Paola’s flamboyant nature.
However, Russ and Paola did tie the knot, and have since welcomed a son, Axel, in 2019. But that’s not to say the couple haven’t had their issues. In 2021, Russ and Paola briefly separated, but managed to patch things up. As evidenced by the couple’s Instagram posts, their family of three is still very much together.
Alan & Kirlyam Cox
Alan and Kirlyam Cox raised eyebrows on 90 Day Fiancé season 1 due to their unconventional initial meeting. The couple met while Alan was on an LDS mission at age 20, and Kirlyam was 12. Alan and Kirlyam also struggled with their desire for each other amid their strict religious rules. However, despite any weirdness that came from their meeting, the couple have stuck it out since they said “I do” during season 1.
Now, Alan and Kirlyam have two children together and regularly post their adorable family photos on Instagram. Alan and Kirlyam have mostly stayed away from the franchise, which may be a good thing.
Louis & Aya Gattone
Earlier in Louis and Aya Gattone’s relationship, the couple would have been a good fit for 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way. Initially, Aya wanted Louis to move to The Philippines, but agreed to come to the U.S. because Louis had two children from a previous relationship.
Though the two struggled at first, they ultimately smoothed out their issues and are still a happy family, with two additional children, today. Louis has often spoken about his deep love for his wife Aya, and gushes about what an incredible mom and stepmom she is to their children. Louis and Aya have become one of the most forgotten 90 Day Fiancé cast members, which has actually worked out well for them.
Mike & Aziza Eloshway
Mike and Aziza Eloshway were a couple that a lot of viewers didn’t have much hope for. The quiet Aziza didn’t seem to fit in with Mike’s family, and it was unclear if she loved Mike at all. It was a genuine surprise that they got married at the end of the season, and there may have been some TLC trickery when editing the couple’s footage.
Clearly, the two have deeper feelings for each other than were depicted on the show, as Mike and Aziza are still happily married. The couple welcomed a baby girl in 2010, and from what followers can tell on Instagram, Mike and Aziza absolutely adore their daughter.
