Following his shocking franchise return in this year’s Fast X, Dwayne Johnson is making a new Fast & Furious spinoff movie, only it won’t be Hobbs & Shaw 2. Johnson made his debut in the action franchise with Fast Five as Luke Hobbs, an agent of the United States’ Diplomatic Security Service who seeks to bring Vin Diesel’s Dominic Toretto back to prison, though eventually becomes an ally for the former street racer.
The Wrap has brought word that Johnson is teaming up with Universal Pictures to develop a new Fast & Furiuos spinoff movie in which he will be the lead. Plot details are being kept under wraps, but sources report the project will not be Hobbs & Shaw 2, but instead act as way to bridge the story between Fast X and Fast & Furious 11. Chris Morgan, who has been the primary writer for the franchise since The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, though was absent for both F9: The Fast Saga and Fast X, will return to pen the script.
