After starring in Hawkeye, Hailee Steinfeld says that it’s time to bring the Young Avengers into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop character has been a part of the Young Avengers in the comics, and other characters from the group have also appeared in the MCU. The seeds have been planted for the group to form, though as of now, there hasn’t been any official announcements made about a debut in the MCU for the group of youthful superheroes.
Recently, per TheDirect, Steinfeld addressed the Young Avengers in a new interview with Josh Horowitz for the Happy Sad Confused podcast. She said that she knows nothing about any potential plans for the group, so anyone else’s guess is as good as hers. Having said that, Steinfeld makes it clear that her hope is the Young Avengers will be coming in very soon, as she is eager to return as Kate Bishop and get the group started. As Steinfeld explains:
“Yeah, I’m certainly chomping at the bit… It’s been a while since [the Apple TV+ series] Dickinson’ ended and since Hawkeye came out, but I am so ready to get back at it. I am itching to be on set again with people that do what I do, and love what we do, and I have such a sense of belonging when I’m on set, and a sense of home, and I just love it. And it has been a while. So, I am very much chomping up a bit.”
When asked if there were any actors in particular she was excited to share the screen with, Steinfeld said that was too hard of a decision to pin down, finding love for so many different people that make up the MCU. She said:
“Oh man. Oh man, the list is long. All of who you mentioned. The list is long. I’ve just started, um, re-watching all the Marvel movies in order. So…”
Are the Young Avengers Coming to the MCU?
Other stars of the MCU have also advocated for the introduction of the Young Avengers. Xochitl Gomez, who played America Chavez in last year’s MCU movie Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, has also been hopeful for the group’s formation to happen soon. Last year, Chavez said she was hopeful to return in the MCU, perhaps in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. She also theorized that maybe one of the unannounced projects in development for the MCU’s Phase 6 will be a Young Avengers film, and she’s keeping her “fingers crossed” for that possibility. As she told Movies Con Jovanny:
“Obviously, there’s The Kang Dynasty, so a little bit of Kang, I think that could be fun with America. But there was lots of unannounced, unnamed titles. We saw some things in Phase 6 that didn’t really have a name, so, I don’t know, fingers crossed, maybe Young Avengers? Who knows?”
Time will tell if the Young Avengers form in the MCU, but Avengers: The Kang Dynasty will be released in theaters on May 2, 2025.
