There are some rumors that rumble on for months and even years before being proven right or wrong, but it seems that the suggestion that Jodie Foster could be about to join the final season of Stranger Things is not one of them. After it the rumor began circulating on the internet that Foster could be about to join Terminator star Linda Hamilton in the fifth season of Netflix’s fantasy horror series, the Twitter account of the show’s writers soon set the record straight as can be seen below.
The debunking of the rumor saw many fans expressing their disappointment at the idea of Foster not being part of Stranger Things’ last episodes. As many pointed out, she would have been a “cool addition” to the series, but with things wrapping up, it is unlikely that there will be many newcomers being added to the existing cast. In fact, the Duffer Brothers have previously suggested that they really want to make sure that the finale focuses on the characters who have been there from the start.
Stranger Things is Being Delayed By the Writer’s Strike
Like many other productions, Stranger Things 5 is now stuck in limbo while it, and Hollywood, awaits the outcome of the writer’s strike. Fans were already in for a lengthy wait to see how Stranger Things will end, and after the epic season 4 there is a lot of expectation on the Duffer Brothers to deliver a final act worthy of the series.
It was revealed at Netflix’s recent TUDUM event that Linda Hamilton will be joining the cast of the show, which sees her following in the footsteps of last season’s cameo appearance by horror icon Robert Englund. While there has been no word on who Hamilton will be playing in the season, the announcement was more than enough to excite fans who have been eagerly awaiting news.
While there are some productions that have gone ahead despite the current strike action, the Duffers explained that Stranger Things would be on hold until the WGA’s action was resolved. In their statement, they said:
“Writing does not stop when filming begins. While we’re excited to start production with our amazing cast and crew, it is not possible during this strike. We hope a fair deal is reached soon so we can all get back to work. Until then — over and out. #wgastrong.”
There has been no date set for when production will get underway, but with the possibility of an actor’s strike also becoming a real prospect, it may be some time before camera get rolling on the final episodes of one of Netflix’s biggest shows. Beyond that, the world of Stranger Things will be expanding beyond the world of Hawkins as we know it through a number of planned spin-offs, although these are currently shrouded in mystery. With the current delays being faced by the series, it is likely that Stranger Things 5 will not be arriving until 2025.
