In the recently liberated Ukrainian village of Storozheve, a Ukrainian flag flies above the ruins of a building while the corpses of fallen Russian soldiers line the roadsides. “Z” symbols painted on walls and doors bear testament to more than a year of Russian occupation. The town is just one of several recaptured by Ukraine in recent weeks, with Kyiv saying it has retaken around 90 square kilometres of territory in the eastern Donetsk region.
