Even though the cameras are down on Vanderpump Rules, the drama continues to play out online, as the Scandoval affair storyline contains some pretty obvious plot holes. As to when the affair between Tom Sandoval and Raquel Leviss began, the now-scorned reality television stars allege that their connection started following a guys night that took place midway through season 10. Just a few episodes later, the cast traveled to Mexico for Scheana’s wedding, where the affair then picked up steam, but remained hidden until March 2023, as their deception was finally unearthed. During the reunion taping, Raquel finally admitted to lying for Tom throughout this ordeal.
Raquel’s latest admission, alongside one particular storyline that is being recalled for questioning, has left many viewers, and cast, trying to determine where the truth actually lies. Taking to Twitter, The Bravo Binge pointed out Raquel and Peter Madrigal’s on-air date, which was a storyline that took place well before the aforementioned guys night. On this, the account asked, “if the affair started at guys night, why did Sandoval care that Rachel went out with Peter & wanted to know if they hooked up? I def think it happened sooner or there was an emotional affair already happening.”
On this plot hole, Scheana agreed saying “Million-dollar question!”
Tom Sandoval’s Text To Peter Madrigal Explained
To understand this plot twist, Peter, a long-standing manager at SUR, took to Kristen Doute’s podcast Sex, Love and What Else Matters, with aspects re-shared by @ratemybravo. Here, he shared with his former Vanderpump Rules costar that just after his date at SUR with Raquel aired, he received a text from Tom, whom he hadn’t heard from in 6 months. In this exchange, Peter claims that Tom texted, “Dude! Just watched the first episode lol! Did you bang Raquel the night after Sur!?’” This text, according to Peter, suggests that Tom was jealous, lending to his affair with Raquel having already begun way earlier than the given “guys night” answer.
Peter could definitely be onto something, as Tom’s text message to him could have very well been Tom’s way of covertly learning about wether or not Raquel was now cheating on him with Peter. Or, by the time this episode aired, Tom and Raquel had already been intimate, so perhaps, Tom was just trying to learn more about Raquel’s past prior to their affair’s start date. Either way, this text exchange reflects poorly on Tom, as it gives the already heated viewers even more fuel on their truth-finding quests, as storylines continue to unravel and further lies and plot holes are discovered in this off-air period.
As for Raquel and Tom’s current status, the answer isn’t quite clear, but Tom’s manipulation and deflections seen throughout season 10 equate for a likely rough Vanderpump Rules season 11, should he choose to return for filming. In terms of where exactly the truth stands on their affair timeline, Raquel’s recent admittance for lying about certain events, all because Tom asked her to portray a slightly less awful version of facts, could very well lead into a redemptive story arch for Raquel. If Raquel returns to face the heat while committing to telling the entire truth, her fellow Vanderpump Rules costars forgiveness will be much easier to earn.
