90 Day Fiance star Colt Johnson had a nasty accident on December 22, 2022, and the silver lining of that event is the fact that Colt now seems more relatable. Before his accident, he was hard to root for. He was one of the 90DF franchise’s most notorious villains, thanks to his “mama’s boy” image. He also cheated on two partners. Those now-exes, Larissa Lima and Jess Caroline, had explosive drama with “Coltee.” After one altercation with Colt, Larissa was arrested, and that wouldn’t be her last run-in with the law during her turbulent union with Colt. In a fit of rage, Jess once threw a high-heeled shoe at Colt.
Colt’s made his rounds in the 90 Day Fiancé franchise. He’s currently married to Vanessa Guerra. Of course, their relationship isn’t perfect, and Colt’s mom Debbie Johnson didn’t exactly help the warring couple get along. Long ago, Debbie interfered in Larissa’s relationship with Colt. When they split up, she worked her magic on Colt and Jess. When she began to cause trouble in Colt’s marriage with Vanessa, he pulled away from his mom. A little distance might be good for the mother and son, who were possibly too close.
Colt’s Accident Changed His Life & Personality
His accident led to a trio of surgeries. It was a severe mishap with long-term consequences. Colt ended up with a leg that was broken and dislocated. After weeks in the hospital, and plenty of painkillers, he was left with bladder problems, and needed to use a catheter. That can be a side effect of surgical procedures and/or taking certain medications. He was told that several months of physical rehabilitation would be needed. It’s sad that he had to learn how to walk again, as that can be a grueling process.
Now that Colt is healing, he’s rethinking his image, in life in general. Big changes can lead to profound revelations. One thing that Colt contemplated was his role in the 90DF universe. Was it really right for him anymore? He’d changes, and his status as a 90DF franchise star became less important to him. The often shallow pleasures of fame may not satisfy him at this point. There is chatter that he would prefer to stay away from the 90DF world in the future. The fact that he’s turn away from something so lucrative, which keeps him famous, is very interesting. Has he had enough of chasing fame? Does he want more out of life? If so, what?
Vanessa may be his top priority. With Vanessa, Colt is a different man. He’s not so childish, temperamental, and stingy. He’s found something that he wants to be better for. That’s a sign of maturity. The accident, which may have made him fear for his life, possibly galvanized him. Colt may have realized that life is short, and that being a reality star isn’t all there is. Perhaps he’s grateful to be alive, and interested in things that really matter, such as the love he feels for his wife.
Vanessa and Colt have had ups and downs, but she’s clearly the right woman for him. The fact that he’s made such significant changes for her sake, such as detaching from his controlling mother, tells a story. This is the person he’ll change for. He did need to change. Post-accident, he may want to build a family with Vanessa, or at least avoid any threats to his relationship which a continued presence in the franchise might bring.
If he’s protecting his relationship, rather than destroying it, that’s progress, and a beautiful thing. For whatever reason, 90 Day Fiancé‘s Colt seems more genuine now. He’s got depth that makes him a more interesting person. While fans may see less of him onscreen, or not see him at all, at least they know that he’s trying to do what’s best for his life, and his wife.
