Many great accessories can be gained early in Final Fantasy 16. Many of these options are incredibly useful at a low level or early on in the main storyline. However, much more powerful options are found in late-game or when entering New Game Plus.
Clive can use three accessories at a time. This allows players to create a unique combination for different situations. One may want to use three accessories that completely synergize – like all offensive attacks. Others may prefer only accessories that offer utility or counteract a flaw.
8 Channeler’s Whispers
Channeler’s Whisper is one of the initial items sold by Charon at Charon’s Toll in the Hideaway. It costs 20,000 Gil, but it is worth it even if one doesn’t have much money yet. When equipped, spells will automatically charge without the need for players to hold down the spell input. Charged spells have a higher chance of breaking an enemy’s guard and will also slightly stagger flying monsters.
The Channeler’s Whisper accessory is even more potent for players that have mastered the Charged Magic ability. It costs 250 AP to master this Final Fantasy 16 ability and will shorten the charge time. It is an excellent investment for those that prefer casting magic before getting into close quarters.
7 Cleric’s Medallion
The various iterations of the Cleric’s Medallion increase the power of consumed potions. The most basic one is acquired by defeating Chirada, a boss summoned by Benedikta in Final Fantasy 16 early in the main story. This gives a 20% boost to potions. An even stronger version, the Cleric’s Medallion +1, is gained by acquiring 205 Renowned and speaking with the Patron’s Whisper. It grants a 40% increase to potions making it an overall better choice.
An additional upgrade is the High Cleric’s Medallion, gained at 715 Renowned. Its potency is only 25%, but it affects high potions instead of standard potions. High potions have a better base healing amount, making this accessory the best choice. Though, this also depends on players having the funds to stock up on extra healing items.
6 Cavall’s Fang
The Cavall’s Fang line of accessories increases Torgal’s attack power. The first is gained from the side quest, a Bone to Pick. This is accessible during the main quest, Out of the Shadows, but only after completing the related Letting Off Steam side activity in Final Fantasy 16. The quest is found by looking through the reading table in Clive’s room and checking the option “A Bad Feeling.”
The quest will have players chat with Charon and then Harpocrates, the latter of who will suggest gaining Elder Antelope Femurs to feed Torgal. These can be found by heading to the bridge in Cressida and slaying several Elder Antelopes. Give the bones to Charon and then speak to Harpocrates for the actual rewards.
5 Adamantine Gauntlets
The Adamantine Gauntlets boost Clive’s hit points by 500. This is a huge amount that can help absorb attacks that get through even high defenses. Unfortunately, they are located more than halfway through the story, making them less accessible. They are found at the Edge of Infinity obelisk waypoint in Waloed. The accessory is sitting inside a nearby chest not far from fast traveling to Waloed.
While the Adamantine Gauntlets can’t be used for most of a first run, they are still useful during Final Fantasy 16’s New Game Plus mode. The added defense will make Clive much more sturdy regardless of restarting normal mode or the spruced-up challenge of Final Fantasy difficulty.
4 Ring of Timely Strikes
“Timely” is a line of accessories designed to make the game easier and more approachable. They are gained by playing the game in Normal difficulty – it is possible to skip them by going from Story mode to Final Fantasy difficulty. This makes them early options for one to play around with and ease into Final Fantasy 16’s fast-paced combat.
The Ring of Timely Strikes makes Clive execute complex combos with single-button inputs. This is great for unleashing a torrent of high damage quickly. However, there is a chance it can lead players to take extra damage or be countered amid a longer attack. Once players understand the fundamentals of combat, they should consider playing without the ring.
3 Breath of Wind (Wicked Wheel)
The “Breath” moniker denotes accessories that shorten the cooldown of specific abilities. In this case, it allows repeat quick use of Wicked Wheel, a staple ability of Gardua the wind Eikon in Final Fantasy 16. The accessory is gained by completing the side quest For Great Justice II. This is accessible after the main search, Cloak and Dagger, by talking to Quinten in the Lostwing. He will task players with defeating the strong foe Minas at Heavenhall.
Wicked Wheel doesn’t do a huge amount of damage but has a high chance of staggering. Combining it with Breath of Wind will allow the ability to be chained almost endlessly. This can put even the toughest foes into a long stun lock and allow for quick offensive follow-ups.
2 Berserker Ring
The Berserker Ring is another early prize from the Patron’s Whisper, gained at a lowly 85 Renowned. This means it can quickly be gained after only a handful of side quests or slaying hunt marks. When equipped, Clive will increase in damage output each time he dodges.
This bonus stacks multiple times, allowing Clive to become an unstoppable killing machine as long as one can perfectly evade. Not only will one take no damage, but they will quickly be able to punish with a devastating counter hit. But this does require players to dodge most assaults reliably. One will want to practice dodging and see if it fits with their playstyle and current build.
1 The Golden Testament
The Golden Testament is another early item bought from Charon in Charon’s Toll. It costs just 5,000 Gil and will increase Gil rewards by 35%. This means it will quickly pay for itself after just a few encounters or side quests. This makes it one of the best accessories to use early in Final Fantasy 16’s story, as it can exponentially increase total funds.
Owners of the Collector’s Edition will have a similar item – the Cait Sith Charm. This only grants 25% extra Gil but is completely free. Players can also use this a bit earlier, before even meeting Charon at the Hideaway.
