10 Addams Family Actors We Want To See Cameo In Wednesday (After Christina Ricci)

Summary

  • Christina Ricci’s appearance in Netflix’s Wednesday series has opened the door for more actors from the beloved Addams Family movies of the 1990s to make cameos.
  • Anjelica Huston, who portrayed Morticia Addams in the iconic ’90s movies, could potentially have a cameo in Wednesday and have a showdown with Catherine Zeta-Jones’ version of the character.
  • Other actors from the Addams Family movies, such as Christopher Lloyd, Jimmy Workman, and Carel Struycken, could also make appearances in future seasons, adding to the nostalgia and connection to the original films.

Christina Ricci’s killer return to the spooky world sets up more actors from The Addams Family movies of the 1990s to appear in Netflix’s Wednesday series. Since the characters’ origination in Charles Addams’ 1930s comics, the eccentric, macabre Addams family has graced the big and small screens on numerous occasions. From the classic 1960s Addams Family sitcom to the beloved 1991 and 1993 movies, the Jenna Ortega-starring series Wednesday follows a long line of gothic adaptations of the titular characters. While Netflix’s Wednesday cast sees big names like Jenna Ortega, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and Luis Guzmán tackle the Addams family members, Christina Ricci has set a precedent for the characters’ former actors to cameo in Tim Burton’s show.

After iconically portraying Wednesday Addams in The Addams Family (1991) and its sequel Addams Family Values (1993), Christina Ricci was cast in Wednesday as Miss Thornhill, whose role would end up pinning the old Wednesday against the new. Following Ricci’s great appearance, more actors from the beloved 1990s movies could follow in similar brand-new roles. While it also would be great to see actors from the 1960s sitcom make cameos, the only surviving main cast member is John Astin, who has only done voice roles since 2006. With the exception of Gomez actor Raul Julia, who sadly passed away in 1994, Wednesday has the opportunity to bring back The Addams Family movies’ memorable cast for cameos in future seasons.

10 Anjelica Huston

Wednesday’s next greatest actor cameo from the ‘90s Addams Family movies would be Anjelica Huston, who portrayed matriarch Morticia Addams in one of the most iconic iterations of the character. Huston’s performances in both The Addams Family and Addams Family Values earned her Golden Globe nominations, as well as popular recognition for the best portrayal of Morticia since Carolyn Jones. If Anjelica Huston were to make a cameo in Wednesday season 2, the series could repeat the Wednesday vs. Wednesday battle from season 1 by having Huston’s character bump heads with Catherine Zeta-Jones’ Morticia Addams.

9 Christopher Lloyd

Christopher Lloyd Uncle Fester

While Fred Armisen steps into the quirky Uncle Fester Addams role in Netflix’s Wednesday, the character was played by the legendary Christopher Lloyd in the beloved 1990s movies. With Lloyd doing more cameos in recent years, such as his memorable cameo in The Mandalorian season 3, an appearance in Wednesday season 2 wouldn’t be too far out of left field. To maintain a connection to his previous Addams Family role, Lloyd could cameo as a character who works with Armisen’s Uncle Fester in his criminal career.

8 Jimmy Workman

The Addams Family Pugsley Addams Jimmy Workman

Since The Addams Family movies’ Wednesday actress had a big role in Tim Burton’s series, it’s only right that the films’ Pugsley actor comes aboard as well. Being portrayed as older than Wednesday in the movies (unlike Isaac Ordonez’s younger Wednesday character), the Addams family’s eldest child Pugsley was played by Jimmy Workman in the ‘90s films. Though Workman seemingly retired from acting in the early 2000s, it’s still possible that the former Pugsley Addams actor could make a small appearance in Netflix’s hit series.

7 Carel Struycken

Carel Struycken as Lurch in The Addams Family

Best known for playing the Giant in Twin Peaks and the Addamses’ butler Lurch in The Addams Family movies, Carel Struycken is another contender for a great cameo in Wednesday’s future seasons. At seven feet tall, Struycken is the tallest actor to portray Lurch so far, exceeding the heights of both Ted Cassidy and Wednesday’s Lurch actor George Burcea. With such a tall stature, it would make sense for his possible Wednesday cameo to see him portray a family member of Lurch. Since Struycken has continued to appear in horror projects like Gerald’s Game and Doctor Sleep over the years, making a cameo on Wednesday would be a great way to continue his career in the supernatural genre.

6 Mercedes McNab

Addams Family Values Amanda Buckman Mercedes McNab

One of the most memorable non-supernatural characters from The Addams Family movies was Mercedes McNab’s Amanda Buckman, who became Wednesday’s arch-nemesis at summer camp in Addams Family Values. McNab also appeared in The Addams Family (1991) but was credited as “Girl Scout,” so it’s unclear if these are the same characters. Nevertheless, her role in both of the iconic Addams Family movies from the 1990s sets up the opportunity for her to dive back into the macabre world with a potential Wednesday cameo. Perhaps instead of a “Normie,” McNab could portray a supernatural character connected to Nevermore in the Netflix series.

5 David Krumholtz

Wednesday and Pugsley Addams and Joel Glicker in The Addams Family Values

While he also had iconic ‘90s roles in movies like The Santa Clause and 10 Things I Hate About You, David Krumholtz notably portrayed Joel Glicker in Addams Family Values. The outcast character Joel became close with Wednesday and Pugsley at summer camp, and even had a brief romantic arc with Christina Ricci’s Wednesday before she informed him that she would never get married. Considering Krumholtz recently returned to another ‘90s project by reprising his role as Bernard in The Santa Clauses series, a return to The Addams Family for a cameo in Wednesday could continue this trend.

4 John Franklin

Cousin Itt and Margaret in The Addams Family

Cousin Itt remains one of the most iconic members of the Addams family tree, with the hair-covered character being played by John Franklin in the Addams Family movies. While Ignatius Itt was featured in a portrait in Wednesday season 1, more members of the Itt portion of the Addams family could be introduced in the show’s future installments. If so, John Franklin could return to the macabre universe as a different Itt relative. Additionally, Franklin could appear in Wednesday without the hair-covered, squeak-language appearance of Cousin Itt, potentially portraying a brand-new character.

3 Carol Kane

Carol Kane as Grandmama Addams in Addams Family Values

After being portrayed by Judith Malina in the 1991 Addams Family movie, Grandmama’s actress was replaced by Carol Kane in 1993’s Addams Family Values. Though Grandmama was missing from Wednesday season 1, the character is expected to debut in the show’s sophomore season, which could coincide with a cameo from Kane. Whether portraying a Normie or someone connected to Wednesday’s Nevermore Academy, Carol Kane appearing in the Netflix series would be a great way to pay homage to the movies’ second Grandmama actress.

2 Christine Baranski

Addams Family Values Becky Gary Christine Baranski Peter MacNicol

Christine Baranski played a memorable bit role in Addams Family Values as Wednesday and Pugsley’s camp counselor Becky Granger. Baranski’s character notably ostracized the Addams children for their macabre obsessions, with her cheery counselor’s summer coming to an end after Wednesday, Joel, and Pugsley set the camp on fire. Baranski could continue her domination on TV with a cameo on Wednesday, perhaps being another “Normie” who contends with Jenna Ortega’s gothic character in the series.

1 Joan Cusack

Joan Cusack as Debbie in Addams Family Values

Joan Cusack hasn’t often played the villain role in her career, but she did so brilliantly in Addams Family Values. In the 1993 movie, Cusack played Debbie Jellinsky, who attempted to con and kill Fester Addams for his considerable fortune. The end of the movie saw Debbie’s demise at the hands of baby Pubert Addams, making her role all the more memorable. Though Cusack hasn’t appeared in a TV show since Homecoming in 2020, The Addams Family movie actress could make her return in a Wednesday cameo.
