Futurama season 11 has had some fantastic episodes, and here are all of the episodes so far, ranked. Futurama is finally back, with the series returning for an eleventh season after getting canceled after season 10 in 2013. Futurama season 11 is now airing on Hulu, and the show’s quality has been surprisingly consistent since its return. Futurama season 11 explores all kinds of genres, ideas, and storylines, but they have all managed to bring back the core Futurama spirit that fans know and love. Although Futurama‘s new batch of episodes is far from over, there’s still a lot to talk about with what has already been seen.

Futurama is the critically acclaimed animated sci-fi series by Matt Groening, the creator of The Simpsons. Although Futurama has had a die-hard fanbase since the beginning, the show has struggled to stay on the air, with Futurama being canceled and renewed several times throughout its run. Futurama‘s season 10 cancelation seemed like it was truly the end, but luckily, that turned out not to be the case. The streaming titan Hulu has renewed Futurama for 20 brand-new episodes, bringing the Planet Express crew back for more wacky adventures. Season 11, episode 6 is now out, but how does it hold up to the rest of the season?

6 Futurama Season 11, Episode 2, “Children Of A Lesser Bog”

Futurama season 11, episode 2, “Children of a Lesser Bog” is an interesting entry in the new batch of episodes, as it actually serves as a sequel to season 4’s “Kif Gets Knocked Up a Notch.” In the episode, Kif and Amy pick up their kids after 20 years, and while it is nice for this gag to finally get paid off, it just isn’t as good as the other Futurama season 11 episodes. While having an Amy-centric episode is a nice change of pace, it does require sidelining beloved Futurama characters like Fry, Bender, and Zoidberg. On top of that, Futurama works better when focusing on wacky sci-fi storylines.

5 Futurama Season 11, Episode 1, “The Impossible Stream”

Futurama Season 11 Fry Binging Chair

Futurama season 11, episode 1, “The Impossible Stream” was the premiere of Futurama season 11. It was fantastic seeing the Planet Express crew back for the first time in over a decade, and the premiere was a pretty solid episode. The meta-commentary on the cancelation of Futurama is hilarious, and the characters are all balanced pretty well. However, Fry’s streaming service storyline doesn’t feel all that creative, with it seeming as if Futurama felt obligated to comment on modern technological developments. Season 11, episode 1 is still a really good episode, but not as good as some of season 11’s others.

4 Futurama Season 11, Episode 6, “I Know What You Did Next Xmas”

Futurama season 11, episode 6, “I Know What You Did Next Xmas” is another one of the show’s holiday specials, but it might just be the best one. Rather than simply focusing on the Planet Express crew fighting off Futurama‘s villainous Robot Santa Claus, the episode actually weaves a complicated but incredibly intriguing time travel plot that makes this a standout of season 11. On top of that, the episode is full of references to previous Futurama episodes while also adding a major twist to the lore of Robot Santa, making the episode excel far beyond just another holiday special.

3 Futurama Season 11, Episode 4, “Parasites Regained”

Fry and Bender running from a sandworm in Futurama

Futurama season 11, episode 4, “Parasites Regained” is another entry in Futurama‘s classic trend of parodying popular sci-fi storylines. This time, Fry, Leela, Bender, and Zoidberg must enter Nibbler’s litter box in order to kill off a species of parasitic sandworms. As it turns out, the episode is a sequel to season 3’s “Parasites Lost,” with the storyline containing some fantastic connections. The constant Dune references and the great mix of characters make “Parasites Regained” a really solid episode, with its continuation of Nibbler’s secret Futurama mission hinting that the subplot could continue in the future.

Fry Leela and Bender in Futurama season 11 episode 5

Futurama season 11, episode 5, “Related to Items You’ve Viewed” may not be the most ambitious Futurama episode, but it is absolutely one of the best in season 11. The episode sees Fry and Leela moving in together, with them having to get the apartment ready while also dealing with Bender’s disdain for the idea. Fry and Leela’s relationship has been at the core of some of the best Futurama episodes, and episode 5’s major relationship shift continues this pattern. While the episode’s Amazon parody storyline is a great treat, it only compliments the dynamic between Fry, Leela, and Bender that is at the heart of Futurama.

1 Futurama Season 11, Episode 3, “How The West Was 1010001”

Futurama Season 11 Hermes and Dwight Conrad

Futurama season 11, episode 3, “How the West Was 101001” is some of the best that Futurama season 11 has to offer. The episode sees the Planet Express crew head west in order to participate in the Bitcoin Rush, with the Western genre parody working perfectly for the series. Every main Futurama character is given the spotlight at some point, while side characters like the Robot Mafia and the Borax Kid get exciting returns. The episode manages to mix comedy, high-concept sci-fi, social commentary, and a Western aesthetic in order to make one of the best Futurama season 11 episodes so far.

New episodes of Futurama release Mondays on Hulu.
