Hilton Honors often runs interesting promotions for its members to earn more points and qualifying nights.
The Fall 2023 “Multiply Your Points” promotion has just been announced, and members can earn up to 3x points on eligible stays between September 6 and December 31, 2023.
As a reminder, the Summer 2023 “Resort to More Points” promotion runs until September 5, 2023, which lets you earn up to 4,000 bonus points per stay.
Hilton Honors Fall 2023 Promotion: “Multiply Your Points”
Hilton’s Fall 2023 promotion is called “Multiply Your Points”, and you can earn up to 3x Hilton Honors points on eligible stays from September 6–December 31, 2023.
The upcoming promotion is structured as follows:
- Earn 3x Hilton Honors points for stays in select cities
- Earn 2x Hilton Honors points for all other stays
You’ll first need to register for the promotion on the landing page, and then you’ll enjoy elevated earning rates for stays during the promotional period.
At the time of writing, the link to the list of cities eligible for 3x points on the promotion’s landing page wasn’t live. However, it appears that the list of eligible properties can be found on a separate landing page, and the list is indeed quite long.
There’s no limit as to how many points you can earn from stays; however, you’ll either earn double or triple points on your stay, as the two don’t stack.
As long as you’ve registered for the promotion, any stays booked before registration are eligible for 2x or 3x points. Your checkout date must fall between September 6 and December 31, 2023 to be eligible for the bonus points.
For reward bookings, you’ll still earn bonus points as long as you incur costs that qualify for base points during the stay.
If you have any paid stays coming up over the fall, this promotion has the potential to be quite lucrative.
Until September 5: “Resort to More Points”
As a reminder, Hilton Honors’s Summer 2023 “Resort to More Points” promotion runs until September 5, 2023.
This promotion offers two ways to pad your Hilton Honors account balance:
To participate, make sure you register through the promotion’s dedicated page first.
Per the terms and conditions, there’s no limit on how many points you can earn from your stays, and even award stays qualify for the bonus points.
We currently value Hilton Honors points at 0.7 cents per point (CAD) apiece, so 4,000 and 2,000 points per stay correspond to a value of $28 and $14 (CAD), respectively.
The “Resort to More Points” promotion is definitely one of the weaker offers that Hilton Honors has put out in recent times, since you’re only earning a modest fixed return with every stay.
However, it’s at least refreshing to see a hotel loyalty program offering promotions that run seamlessly throughout the year, compared to sporadic offers or targeted promos from other hotel chains.
This particular promotion will especially benefit people who make single-night or shorter stays, since there’s no minimum stay requirement.
How To Maximize the “Multiply Your Points” Promotion
To maximize your points earning, you’ll want to stay at properties eligible for the 3x bonus points.
Since you’ll earn double or triple the number of points with this promotion, you’ll want to make sure you’re earning the most points per dollar spent by leveraging your status and paying with the right credit card.
For example, if you book at a Hilton property, for every US dollar you spend, you can earn:
- 10 base points as a Hilton Honors member
- 2x or 3x base points via the “Multiply Your Points” promotion
- Bonus points for having Hilton Honors elite status:
- Points earned for using your Hilton Honors credit card at an eligible co-branded property:
- 7 points for using the Hilton Honors Card
- 12 points for using the Hilton Honors Surpass Card or the Hilton Honors Business Card
- 14 points for using the Hilton Honors Aspire Card
That works out to up to 54 Hilton Honors points per dollar spent: 10 base points as a Hilton Honors member, triple base points via the promotion, 10 points with Hilton Diamond status, and 14 points by paying with an Aspire card.
At our current valuation of 0.5 cents per point (USD) or 0.7 cents per point (CAD), you could also view this as a 27% discount, which is a great deal.
Of course, not everyone has the Aspire Card — even with annual credits, it’s a steep annual fee to swallow when you consider other premium cards on the market.
Alternatively, if you have a Canadian-issued American Express Platinum Card or Business Platinum Card from American Express, and a lower-tier American Express US Hilton credit card, you’ll earn:
- 10 base points per US dollar spent as a Hilton Honors member
- 2x or 3x base points via this promotion
- 8 bonus points for having Hilton Honors Gold status (which you get as an Amex Platinum cardholder)
- 12 points for using your Hilton Honors Surpass or Business Card at a co-branded property
A total of 50 Hilton Honors points per dollar spent is equivalent to a 25% discount on your stays, and it’s almost the same rate as you’d get with the Aspire Card.
With returns of up to 27% via this promotion, this is a great opportunity to make a cash booking for an upcoming trip during less busy periods, during which prices might be less than in the busy summer months. You can then save the points you’ll earn for a future award redemption or for when the active promotions aren’t as favourable.
Saving your points would certainly be a better choice if you’re working towards an aspirational Hilton redemption with a high points cost, especially since Hilton Honors points aren’t as easy to come by as other hotel rewards from a Canadian perspective.
Conclusion
The Hilton Honors Fall 2023 “Multiply Your Points” promotion has been announced, and you can earn up to 3x points for stays between September 6 and December 31, 2023.
As a reminder, the Summer 2023 “Resort to More Points” promotion runs until September 5, 2023.
There’s no downside to registering for this promotion, so be sure to consider Hilton properties if you have some hotel stays coming up over the fall months to score some extra points.
Be sure to register for the promotion first, and then plan your upcoming stays accordingly to maximize its potential.
