The Wolf of Wall Street Lamborghini Countach is Up for Auction

New York City, with its vibrant Wall Street financial markets and iconic Fifth Avenue fashion houses, is a global hotspot for luxury. Reflecting this lavishness, RM Sotheby’s, the premier auctioneer of top-tier collectibles, is thrilled to announce its dedicated auction at Sotheby’s prestigious New York headquarters during the December Luxury Week sale series. This extraordinary event, the fourth of its kind, will showcase cutting-edge automotive design, presenting an expertly curated selection of history’s most legendary cars from the world’s most revered brands.

One standout automotive icon, closely tied to the upcoming New York sale and the city’s cinematic legacy, is a 1989 Lamborghini Countach 25th Anniversary edition, which had a prominent role in Martin Scorsese’s 2013 film, The Wolf of Wall Street. Sharing the screen with Leonardo DiCaprio, this Bianco Polo over Bianco Countach was a coveted possession for Jordan Belfort, the film’s real-life financial “Wolf,” as well as many enthusiasts of the late 1980s. With only 12 believed to have been made in this configuration, it holds a special place in film history and is a truly rare find (Estimate: $1,500,000 – $2,000,000).

Lamborghini Countach Interestingly, Scorsese’s film included not one, but two 25th Anniversary Countach sports cars in similar setups. For a particularly memorable scene—a nighttime drive featuring an inebriated DiCaprio—one of the Countachs was depicted with lifelike damage and remains in that condition to this day, adding to its status as a Hollywood icon with unforgettable battle scars. However, the example being offered in New York this December, chassis KLA12722, was unharmed during filming. With its star turn, this cinematic Countach is unquestionably world-famous. It represents a timeless blend of automotive and cinematic zeitgeist, intertwining the legacies of Lamborghini and Hollywood, and leaving an indelible mark on multiple generations.

Lamborghini Countach This rare all-white Countach, accompanied by its on-screen pedigree, takes center stage as the first collector car announced for RM Sotheby’s highly anticipated boutique New York sale—an exclusive auction of extraordinary automobiles held during Sotheby’s Luxury Week on December 8.
