Diesel notably did not return for 2003’s 2 Fast 2 Furious because he ironically believed that a sequel to The Fast and The Furious would tarnish the legacy of the original film. In another stroke of irony, Diesel reportedly told the Los Angeles Times turned down $20 million to appear in 2 Fast 2 Furious out of a fear of becoming pigeonholed into a role.
