A pensioner has been arrested over the death of a British woman in Spain’s Costa Blanca.
The 76-year-old woman was found dead at a house in Orihuela Costa on Friday morning.
The Civil Guard said it was alerted to a report of alleged gender violence, resulting in the death of the woman, at around 7.40am.
The force reported a blade may have been used in the alleged attack.
The Civil Guard said: “The injuries presented may correspond to an assault with a knife.”

An 82-year-old Norwegian man has been arrested in connection with the death and is currently in custody.
The Civil Guard added: “There is no record of previous gender violence between them.”
