After leaving viewers baffled in its opening arc about Brynn’s isolation and her townsfolk’s hatred towards her, No One Will Save You finally resolves these mysteries in the final arc. Directed by Brian Duffield of the Love & Monsters fame, No One Will Save You initially walks through a typical day in its main character Brynn’s life. The movie highlights how Brynn keeps to herself and often hides from the people in her town. Even when she goes out of her way to greet someone, no one really acknowledges her presence.

This opening sequence in No One Will Save You clearly establishes that people in Brynn’s town hate her. The movie further cements this idea when a woman (Maude’s mother) spits on her as soon as she sees her face. Given how Brynn comes off as a harmless, friendly person, it is hard not to wonder why the people of her town treat her that way. Hence, here’s a detailed breakdown of what makes Brynn’s townsfolk despise her and how it connects to her tragic past.

Maude’s Death Is Why Everyone Hates Brynn In No One Will Save You

The Hulu alien horror movie waits until its final arc to reveal why everyone in Brynn’s town hates her. After Brynn keeps resisting the invasions, No One Will Save You‘s central aliens finally capture her in their ship, and one of them touches her forehead with its finger. With what follows, not only do the aliens get a glimpse of Brynn’s traumatic past, but Brynn, too, relives the day of Maude’s death. In this vision of her past, she finds a huge crowd surrounding her house, which includes Maude’s parents, who seem immensely distressed by their daughter’s death.

When Brynn heads into the forests, she sees how Maude had pushed her to the ground during a fight, and in a brief period of mindless anger, she retaliated by hitting Maude’s head with a rock. Although No One Will See You never reveals what happened next, it seems evident that Brynn accidentally killed her best friend and likely served time as a juvenile after the incident. When she returned home, she was looked down upon by the whole town. Over the years, this distance between her and the people of her town only grew as they alienated her while she kept to herself.

Why No One Will Save You’s Aliens Help Brynn After Learning About Maude

Brynn and the Gray alien in No One Will Save You

After learning about Brynn’s past and her relationship with Maude, the aliens in No One Will Save You briefly discuss something in their local vibrational language. With what follows, they not only spare Brynn but also help her by creating an idyllic town, where she gets the acceptance and support she dreams of. Using their mind-altering parasitic devices, they control the humans in Brynn’s town in such a way that all of them seem to admire and love Brynn, which contrasts with how the townsfolk treated her in the movie’s opening arc. This establishes that the aliens empathize with her after learning about how the town alienated her because of her childhood mistake.

They realize that even though she is human, she is no less of an alien than them. As a result, unlike the people of Brynn’s town, they accept her as a part of their own species. In a metaphorical sense, the aliens are mere narrative devices to highlight how Brynn’s repressed guilt begins to invade her life. Towards the end of No One Will Save You, she only survives the invasion and turns her life around because she learns to accept her guilt and forgive herself.
