We’ve gotten our hands on an exclusive clip from the upcoming action thriller, Desperation Road, starring Mad Max icon Mel Gibson and Tron: Legacy’s Garrett Hedlund. Coming courtesy of Lionsgate, Desperation Road is based on Michael Farris Smith’s celebrated novel, and finds Oscar-winner Gibson and Hedlund leading this Southern noir thriller about the lethal combination of revenge, redemption, and justice. Director Nadine Crocker Describes the Clip & Performances
We have also gotten some insight into the exclusive clip from Desperation Road from director Nadine Crocker, who describes the performances and the chemistry between Gibson and Hedlund as “beautiful.”
“I love this moment. It’s beautiful to see Garrett and Mel’s connection and chemistry as Father and Son. By the end of production it was hard to believe they weren’t related. I wanted these first moments at the farm to feel like a breath of fresh air. The first breath Maben and Annalee have been able to take on their journey. I am so proud of the incredible performances in this film. As a director I am always trying to make the audience forget they’re watching a film and just experience it. That is only possible through grounded performances and I feel so lucky to have collaborated with these beautiful artists.”
Nadine Crocker is an award-winning director, writer, actress, and producer whose journey has been anything but conventional. An advocate for mental health awareness and suicide prevention, she brings a sense of herself to anything she undertakes. Her first film, the award-winning independent feature Continue is based on her true-life experience surviving a suicide attempt when she was 23. Her intent was to make a film where she could not only tell her story but help others from taking their own lives. The film premiered at Cinequest Film Festival and continues to play the festival circuit with an eye towards a theatrical release in the coming year.
In addition to her work as a filmmaker, you may recognize Crocker from her acting work in Eli Roth’s remake of Cabin Fever (with flesh falling off), playing Scorcher on CW’s Supergirl, or as Juliet in Hallmark Channel-esque Rodeo & Juliet on Netflix.
Desperation Road is slated to be released on October 6, 2023, in select theaters and on VOD.
