Nathy Peluso continued to share her unmatched swagger and poetic grit at the Billboard Latin Music Week 2023 showcase on Wednesday (Oct. 4), which took place in Miami’s Oasis club. From sultry bachata and brass-powered salsa, to spitting riveting rap bars and even performing a Camilo Sesto cover (“Vivir Así Es Morir De Amor”), Nathy was on fire for her entire set. Clad in a denim dress with black leather boots and a cut-up T-shirt, the performer sang “Ateo,” “Alabame” and her latest single “Ella Tiene.”
Billboard‘s Latin Rookie of the Year and opening act Young Miko pulled up brimming with confidence while wearing a vintage black tee of Marilyn Monroe emblazoned with pink text that read “Hollywood Is Hell.” The young rapper performed her hits, including “Lisa,” “Wiggy,” “Riri” and the reggaetón number “Chulo Pt. 2.” Midway through her performance of the mellow trap banger “Big Booty,” a concertgoer threw the Puerto Rican star a pair of pink underwear. She picked it up and started twirling it as she maneuvered across the stage.
Earlier this week, both performers took part of the Boys No More! panel alongside Nicki Nicole, Kany García, María Becerra and GALE. during the discussion, Nathy said, “When I started rapping, there weren’t many women on the scene — it was a struggle, to create a space for myself. Today, we’re far from those times and I’m grateful for the work of my sisters.”
Young Miko noted, “I found out we [Kany García] were from the same [LGBTQ+] community, and it made me feel comfortable to speak with my mother. Things are now changing, today, thank God. There’s an audience that’s more receptive; there’s an audience that is looking for change.”
Celebrated for more than 30 years, the 2023 edition of Latin Music Week included a Superstar Q&A with Shakira; the Legends on Legends chat with Chencho Corleone and Vico C; Making the Hit Live! with Carin León and Pedro Capó; a panel with RBD’s Christian Chávez, Christopher von Uckermann, and Maite Perroni; Superstar Songwriter discussion with Edgar Barrera and Keityn, among many other panels, Q&As and workshops.
