Quartz is a useful upgrade material in Lies of P that appears as small white crystals. Quartz is the key material for upgrading the P-Organ, Pinocchio’s skill tree. Players must spend Quartz to unlock different nodes within the P-Organ and gain different abilities and perks. Unfortunately, Quartz is a rare material throughout Krat.
In order to find Quartz, you’ll have to dive into the secret areas of Krat and tackle some of its toughest bosses. There are 29 Quartz hidden throughout the game. They can only be collected once. Luckily, you won’t permanently lose your Quartz after unlocking a node. If you want to reset Pinocchio’s abilities, you can regain your Quartz by spending Gold Coin Fruit.
All Bosses & Enemies With Quartz
Many of the major bosses in Lies of P drop Quartz upon defeat. The Parade Master in Krat Central Station Plaza is the first boss to drop Quartz. This will likely be the first piece of Quartz you collect in your playthrough. The Scrapped Watchman in Krat City Hall is the next boss to drop Quartz if you can dodge its swift attacks. After that, there are three Puppets of the Future that each drop one Quartz; one in Workshop Union Culvert, and two wandering in Barren Swamp.
Some of the other bosses that drop Quartz include the Mad Clown Puppet in Rosa Isabelle Street Culvert, the Corrupted Parade Master in Krat Central Station Lobby, and the Black Rabbit Brotherhood in Relic of Trimegistus. The Mad Clown Puppet in Lies of P is an optional boss, so make sure you fight him and don’t miss out on extra Quartz.
There are also a few other enemies who drop Quartz upon death. The Mutated Carcass lurks in a large room within St. Frangelico’s Cathedral Chapel past the giant wheels and has a Quartz in its possession. If you’re in Arche Abbey Broken Rift, cut through a few archways until you find a big Pinocchio toy that drops a Quartz upon defeat. Lastly, near the end of the game, there’s a grotesque Elite Enemy in the tower near the Arche Abbey Upper Part – Internal Bridge Stargazer that can give you a late-game Quartz.
All Chests & Secret Areas With Quartz
The rest of the Quartz in Lies of P can be found in chests or as the reward for completing a certain quest. You can even get two Quartz by fully upgrading Polendina’s shop with Supply Boxes. Quartz found in chests are often guarded by an enemy while the quest Quartz are typically associated with either the Trinity Keys or the Cryptic Vessels with a couple of notable exceptions.
Cryptic Vessels are ciphers you’ll find across Krat. You’ll need to speak with Venigni at Hotel Krat to get the associated Cryptic Vessel Decryption. The decryption will include a hint pointing you toward a safe or chest containing your reward. Trinity Keys in Lies of P, meanwhile, are rewarded for correctly answering riddles from the King of Riddles. These keys unlock Trinity Sanctums that house more rewards such as costumes and amulets.
While exploring St. Frangelico’s Cathedral Chapel, you’ll find a lit brazier you have to knock off a ledge. Follow it down, and you’ll find a newly unlocked door housing a chest. The chest contains the Crafted Cryptic Vessel. Once you have the Crafted Cryptic Vessel Decryption, head to the Krat City Hall Stargazer and throw something at the puppet corpse dangling from the bridge. The corpse will drop a clue leading to Room 221b on Elysion Boulevard. Your next Quartz, alongside the Owl Doctor’s Hunting Apparel, are in a safe inside the room.
The next Quartz is in the Trinity Sanctum in Workshop Union Culvert, the key to which can be found in Krat City Hall Courtyard. After that, there’s a chest in Malum District hidden in a ruined shack behind a bonfire praising the Black Rabbit Brotherhood. You’ll have to drop through the roof to get inside. While you’re hanging around Malum District, loot the chest in the Black Rabbit Brotherhood hideout, located near the Malum District Town Hall Stargazer and hidden behind the counter.
Before you brawl with the Mad Clown Puppet in Rosa Isabelle Street Culvert, enter the sewers near the Stargazer and follow the path straight until you find an enemy guarding another chest. You can get the Quartz inside after killing the enemy. Then, make your way to Estella Opera House Entrance and use your Trinity Key from Malum District to open the Trinity Sanctum.
When you arrive at the Grand Exhibition Gallery, you can loot a new chest near the side gate shortcut connecting back to the front gardens. Afterward, visit the Barren Swamp and meet the Broken Puppet, a hopeful NPC who wants to learn human emotions. You’ll need to learn the Clap, Sad, Anger, and Happy Gestures to get the first Quartz from him. When you talk to the puppet later, you’ll get a second Quartz.
While you’re hunting down the four gestures for the Broken Puppet you can follow up on the Rusty Cryptic Vessel, which you can purchase from Polendina after giving him the Special Krat Supply Box. The Rusty Cryptic Vessel Decryption leads to the Barren Swamp Bridge, where Pinocchio can now get through a previously locked gate and enter the Hermit’s Cave. The chest with the Quartz is in the back of the cave. There’s another Quartz in the Hermit’s Cave if you explore the closed-off area past the fourth ladder.
When you go to Krat Central Station Platform later in Lies of P, you can pick up the next Quartz in a cloud of Decay between two trains. There’s a fungus nearby that can temporarily clear the Decay, allowing you to get the chest. When that’s done, you can follow up on the Mechanical Cryptic Vessel from Arche Abbey Broken Rift. If you have Frozen Feast, one of the best boss weapons in Lies of P, you can show the weapon off to a Wandering Merchant near the Abandoned Apartment Stargazer and get the Mechanical Cryptic Vessel rewards; a Quartz and the Red Fox’s Hunting Apparel.
The last Trinity Sanctum Quartz is in the Arche Abbey Outer Wall Trinity Sanctum after unlocking the previous Trinity Sanctums. Speak to the King of Riddles inside, and you’ll get your rewards. Once that’s done, head to Arche Abbey Broken Rift and get past the hall of spike traps to grab a Quartz out of a chest. The last Quartz rests in a chest behind the wailing puppet enemy in Arche Abbey Upper Part – Inside. From there, you’ll fight the Elite Enemy mentioned earlier and have all the Quartz available in Lies of P.

To face these threats, players can craft various weapons using devices found throughout the city and gain new attachments to improve traversal. The ending can be significantly affected depending on the player’s narrative and action-based choices. Lies of P will be released on current and next-gen consoles and PC sometime in 2023.
