The Issue: A New Jersey school district that canceled Halloween celebrations over equity concerns.
In canceling the universally enjoyed Halloween festivities in school, Superintendent Ronald G. Taylor exemplifies not only the death of America’s education system, but the woke brain-twister of treating all equally by treating most unfairly (“Halloween axed!,” Kristen Fleming, Oct. 27).
If he really believes in this drivel, why doesn’t he take some of his salary and buy inexpensive costumes and treats for the underprivileged students, thus bringing true joy to all instead of disappointment?

How is it “equity” or “diversity” to kibosh a day that kids look forward to and talk about weeks before? To Superintendent Taylor: How about diverting all your efforts into educating children in the basics?
Most costumes for children cost nothing if they’re simply made at home. I’m guessing Santa is next on the chopping block.
Taylor, grow up and leave the kids alone. You’re a buffoon.

Is it any wonder that the youth of this country are becoming more depressed and isolated?
While we inflict gender studies and teach victimization in kindergarten, these so-called “educators” remove anything that brings a semblance of joy to our children.
According to Taylor, a majority of children in his district must be denied any Halloween celebration because of a few parents who may take issue.
As for the concern that some will not being able to afford a costume — how absurd! Many costumes are just old clothes that are thrown together and declared to be princesses, witches or pirates.
Taylor has no problem “excluding” the children who look forward to this special day. This is another reason why parents must fight to have a strong voice in their children’s schools.

Fleming hit the nail on the head when she wrote: “We were once governed by a ‘majority rules’ mentality.”
But now we’re forced into a “minority rules” mentality. One person objects, and it’s over.

The Issue: The city steering migrants to a “reticketing center” to secure one-way plane tickets elsewhere.
Mayor Adams keeps throwing money and freebies at the illegal immigrants in New York to solve our sanctuary-city problems (“Coming and going,” Oct. 28).
Illegal immigrants already get free housing, medical services, phones, legal assistance and education. Now we learn they’re also getting airplane tickets.
The citizens of New York, who get to pay the bill without getting any of these services and freebies, should get free t-shirts that say: “Sucker.”

It wasn’t too long ago that Adams reaffirmed that New York City is a sanctuary city, welcoming illegal immigrants.
Now that they have taken him up on his offer, the city is overwhelmed. The new strategy is to offer the immigrants free airline tickets to anywhere in the world.
Instead, just make the tickets available only to Washington, DC, or Rehoboth Beach, Del.

Some might say it’s impossible to screw this up any more, but leave it to Adams to find a way.
After touting that the city will take care of all those seeking asylum, then realizing he should have thought this through, he’s now placing another burden on taxpayers by paying for air travel.
Let’s just admit the mayor and his massive ego are in way over their pay grade.
