Vanna White is living her best life with her longtime partner John Donaldson by her side. The Wheel of Fortune hostess, 66, shared a rare photo of the couple on vacation in Hawaii on October 20. In the Instagram photo, Vanna and John, 57, smiled for the camera with a gorgeous rainbow in the sky behind them. The lovebirds both wore sunglasses and cuddled up to each other for the picture, which Vanna captioned, “Everything is perfect with #rainbows! #love #hawaii #restandrelaxation.”
Vanna has been in a relationship with John for over 12 years, but they still aren’t engaged. The TV host explained in a recent interview with PEOPLE why she doesn’t feel the need to marry her longtime boyfriend.
“I mean, we’ve been together 12 years, and I feel like we are married,” she said. “Do we have to get married? No, because we feel comfortable in our relationship. You know what I mean? I know that he’s the one. He knows I’m the one.” Vanna also said that she and John “don’t really talk about” having a wedding. “I mean, I guess we could, but in my eyes and his eyes, we are married,” she added.
Vanna and John met in 2012 at a mutual friend’s barbecue ten years after she split from her husband George Santo Pietro, with whom she has two adult children. Vanna has gushed over her boyfriend in interviews throughout the years. “He is kind, understanding, and lets me be me,” she told Closer in 2016. “Today I am happy just the way things are. The biggest surprise to my fans is probably how simple I live in real life.”
John’s been supportive of Vanna’s career on Wheel of Fortune. She recently extended her contract with the show by two years through the 2025-2026 season following her longtime co-host Pat Sajak‘s exit. Pat will be leaving the show after the 2023-2024 season and will be replaced by Ryan Seacrest. Vanna has been working with Pat since 1982 and admitted it’s going to be “really hard” to do the game show without him.
