Summary
-
Gen V
season 2 needs to explore the training and development of the young supes at God U, as season 1 barely showed their progress and refinement of their powers. - The villain arcs of Sam and Cate should be further explored in season 2, as they both show darker sides and conflicting motivations that will shape their actions moving forward.
- Marie and Jordan have the potential to become the “It couple” at God U, with their powerful abilities and developing relationship, similar to the dynamic between Cate and Golden Boy in the first episode.
Gen V season 1 has changed the world of The Boys in many ways, but season 2 still has a lot that needs to happen with the supes at God U. The spin-off series has introduced another side to the supes in the world of The Boys, with young supes as the primary protagonists. While The Boys has included several superpowered characters who are morally good and recognize the corruption of other supes, Gen V places the heroes in the spotlight.
Many of the students at God U still use their powers recklessly and endanger others or abuse their powers, but the core cast is working hard to right wrongs being committed by regular humans against those with powers. The series has explored what the world looks like for innocent young heroes who were essentially experiments earning their parents money and then rejected when things didn’t go exactly to plan. Gen V has already set up some interesting storylines for The Boys season 4, but there is plenty more that Gen V season 2 needs to explore about its leading characters and where their journey will lead them.
10 Gen V Season 2 Needs More Cameos From The Boys
The Boys Cameos In Gen V Season 1 Include A-Train, Madelyn Stillwell, Ashley Barrett, The Deep, And Soldier Boy, Among Others
By episode 7, Gen V has included cameos from several characters from The Boys, but it has yet to include some important supes from The Seven and members of Billy Butcher’s gang. It makes sense that the students at God U have not crossed paths with these characters just yet, as their intentions to expose a superhero virus will certainly put them in the crosshairs for either team potentially trying to destroy or acquire the virus, which would be too much for the young heroes to contend with. Gen V season 2 will see the students a little older and wiser, and it feels like that is the right time to introduce more crossovers from the original series.
9 Gen V Season 2 Should Introduce New Freshmen At God U
God U Needs More Allies, Threats, & Unusual Powers From New Students
Season 2 needs to include new supes at God U who could become either an ally or a new potential threat. It’s clear that Shetty did a lot of work trying to influence and build relationships with students she believed could be useful. She did this with Marie after her encounter with Golden Boy, but she also met with Cate before her enrollment at God U. Gen V season 2 could feature new supes that were being groomed by Shetty as tools to help further her dark ambitions. Likewise, there is room for others with impressive, unusual, and downright grotesque powers to align themselves with Marie and her friends.
8 God U Needs A New Dean After Indira Shetty
It’s Still Possible That Shetty Escaped In Gen V Episode 7
Regardless of whether Gen V season 1, episode 7’s ending in which Cate forces Indira Shetty to kill herself and stops the others from helping her played out as seen on screen or Cate made a deal with Shetty and pushed the others to see something that didn’t happen, God U needs a new Dean. If Shetty is dead, then the school will likely spin a story praising her contributions, and if she somehow escaped, she will need to lie low and get out of the spotlight. Either way, God U needs to replace her with someone new to help shape the minds and training of young supes.
7 Students At God U Need To Actually Train As Supes
Season 1 Barely Shows The Young Supes Training
One thing severely lacking in Gen V season 1 is anything to do with the supes learning how to use their powers and training. There have been brief glimpses into the drama class and snippets from the school of crimefighting, but how these future heroes train and refine their unique powers could be explored a lot further in season 2. The school for heroes concept is incredibly interesting, so seeing more of how that practically works is a must for Gen V season 2.
6 Sam And Cate’s Villain Arc Explored
Sam & Cate May Be Season 2’s Main Villains
Gen V season 1 has featured several misdirects and revealed characters that were supposedly good to have darker sides. Sam was trapped in the woods by Shetty and the staff at God U while being used as a battery to power up his brother. Cate had a cold upbringing after the powers her parents inflicted on her impacted them negatively, and they became scared of her and imprisoned her in her room.
Sam has now started to develop a supes-first mentality after hearing some charged rhetoric from rebellious students at God U. Meanwhile, Cate is also becoming a much more complex and dark character with her conflicting relationships and her willingness to act in brutal and manipulative ways. Gen V season 2 is the perfect time to explore the villain arc of Sam and Cate as they move further toward their dark motivations and actions.
5 Marie Moreau And Jordan Li As The “It” Couple At God U
Marie & Jordan Can Be God U’s Cate & Golden Boy Couple Replacement
Marie and Jordan are exploring a relationship together after the pair let their guards down and got physical. Marie is helping Jordan to accept both sides of themselves instead of just using one part of themselves for specific situations, like becoming male when they are trying to prove a point. The pair is an incredibly cute couple and, as some of the most powerful supes at Gen V‘s God U, their relationship will definitely be closely watched by other students and faculty. The duo has the potential to be the “It couple” on campus in the same way that Cate and Golden Boy were in the first episode.
4 Andre Anderson Moving Past Luke And Cate
Andre Needs A More Uplifting Gen V Season 2 Story
Andre has been hit harder than most in Gen V season 1. His best friend died, and his girlfriend (with whom the relationship is complicated because of crossover with Luke) turned out to be manipulating and pushing the people closest to her, working for Shetty, and hiding sinister secrets at God U. Now, his father has suffered from a terrible and very public illness. Andre can be truly great and inspire other supes to do and be their best, but he needs to get past all the things weighing him down and become his own man.
3 Emma Meyer Joining The School Of Crimefighting
Emma Can Learn To Love Her Powers
Emma suffered conflicted feelings about her powers because of her mother and how she needs to activate them. However, exploring her powers potential to grow significantly larger, Emma seems to enjoy helping people and protecting others like Sam when he was losing control. Up to this point, she accepted life as a performing hero to be used for entertainment, but the vitriol that comes with that has impacted her mental health. Gen V season 2 could see her training to become a crimefighting hero and learning to love her powers.
2 Jordan Li Getting The Number 1 Spot On The Rankings
Jordan’s Value Needs To Be Recognized At God U
Jordan was actually the one who held back Golden Boy in Gen V episode 1, and their powers and studious attitude toward training make them a real competitor for the top spot at God U. Despite their prowess and skill, Vought and Shetty opted to remove Jordan from the narrative because their powers may be too complex for some backers to the school, but they deserve to be recognized. The sooner the world accepts Jordan Li and recognizes their powerful worth as a superhero, the better for the series as a whole and Jordan’s prospects as a member of The Seven.
1 Marie Moreau Exploring Her Blood Powers
Marie’s Blood Powers Could Make Her God U’s Most Powerful Supe
Marie’s powers have gradually developed throughout Gen V season 1. In addition to manipulating her blood, she can recognize things in others like when they may have their period, whether they have compound V in their blood, and more. It was also revealed that Marie’s powers are the same as Victoria Neuman’s, which means she could explode limbs at will like she did with Rufus earlier in the season. The power to manipulate blood in herself and others appears to be incredibly volatile and potentially the most powerful of any supe. Gen V season 2 needs to see Marie develop her power and keep learning new skills.
