  • thats.so.cosplay’s Dalek and Cybermen Disney mash-up is a wonderful tribute to two iconic franchises, featuring detailed costumes and inventive clothing elements.

Belle and the Beast undergo a drastic reimagining and are combined with superior Dalek and Cybermen technologies in stunning Doctor Who and Disney crossover cosplays. The 1991 Disney animated classic Beauty and the Beast follows the meeting between a book-smart girl and a cursed prince, and the “Tale as Old as Time” has remained one of the company’s most celebrated movies to this day. The Daleks and Cybermen first faced William Hartnell’s First Doctor during his 1960s tenure in the role, becoming some of the Time Lord’s most recognizable enemies that have since gone on to terrorize subsequent incarnations.

Ahead of the Doctor Who 60th-anniversary specials with returning showrunner Russell T Davies that will release on Disney+, thats.so.cosplay on Instagram has merged one of the companies’ most recognizable couples with a pair of terrifying alien foes from the dark corners of the galaxy.

In photos taken by carlosmphotos.cosplay, a Cybus Cyberman takes on the role of the Beast, while Belle’s dress is augmented with Dalek casing details. Both costumes are wonderfully crafted, with elements including Cybermen leg armor, Dalek eye stalks, and sensor globes being integrated into the suit and gown.

Every Time The Daleks And Cybermen Have Crossed Paths In Doctor Who

While both Daleks and Cybermen featured in the Doctor Who classic series 1983 anniversary story “The Five Doctors”, it wasn’t until 2006’s season 2 two-part finale “Army of Ghosts/Doomsday” that the two would cross paths for the first time. In the middle of the Cybus Industries Cybermen’s invasion on Earth, the clandestine Dalek group known as The Cult of Skaro emerged from a Void Ship with a horde of imprisoned Daleks, ready to exterminate the human race. The two races quickly clashed, resulting in a terrifying battle across London until the Tenth Doctor (David Tennant) banished them to the void.

However, both races were able to come together to defeat their greatest foes in later Doctor Who seasons. In the penultimate season 5 episode “The Pandorica Opens”, the new Dalek Paradigm and Cybermen were able to come together with a number of other aliens to imprison the Eleventh Doctor (Matt Smith) in the titular prison. The two empires once more joined forces under Sacha Dhawan’s Master in “The Power of the Doctor” in a mutually beneficial plot to destroy the Thirteenth Doctor’s (Jodie Whittaker) legacy that would have seen the pair wreak havoc on Earth.

While their in-universe relationship has been ever-changing, thats.so.cosplay’s Dalek and Cybermen Disney mash-up is a wonderful marriage between the two franchises. Alongside two stunning costumes, each outfit is packed with small details that turn the iconography of each Doctor Who villain into inventive clothing elements. As such, while both foes are seemingly absent from the 60th-anniversary specials, they may return in rebranded Doctor Who season 1. Until then, the duo’s recent cosplay is a wonderful tribute to two of the Doctor’s oldest foes.

The Doctor’s previous encounters with the Daleks and Cybermen can be seen in Doctor Who seasons 1 to 13 on Max, while Beauty and the Beast can be found on Disney+.
