UFC 295 brought the violence in the promotion’s return to New York City two weekends ago (Nov. 11, 2023).
The 13-fight card saw eight of the bouts inside the world-famous Madison Square Garden end via finish (seven knockouts, one submission). On the pay-per-view (PPV) main card, all five fights resulted in finishes.
Amongst the lengthiest medical suspensions dealt out by the New York State Athletic Commission (NYSAC) was Strawweight contender, Mackenzie Dern, who was on the receiving end of a thumping second round technical knockout from former champion, Jessica Andrade (watch highlights). Dern’s suspension will last 90 days for mandatory rest, and she’ll be suspended indefinitely pending neurological clearance. Lightweight, Matt Frevola, and Featherweight, Pat Sabatini, join Dern with the longest suspensions of the 19 overall fighters, having to rest for 90 days.
