New MacBook Pro and iMac, plus Humane’s AI Pin

“Picard to Enterprise” using the Humane AI Pin

On this week’s episode of the AppleInsider Podcast, reviews for the M3 MacBook Pro and 24-inch iMac are out, plus Final Cut Pro gets new features on Mac and iPad, iOS 17.1.1 brings bug fixes, and Humane officially announces the AI pin.

To buy or not to buy, that is the heart of this week’s AppleInsider Podcast as host Stephen Robles can’t decide about the new MacBook Pro. And as everyone now gets to wonder whether Humane’s AI Pin — made by ex-Apple executives — will sell.

It’s a little more certain that Apple’s forthcoming updates to Final Cut Pro on both the Mac and the iPad will be hits. Plus there are already updates to Apple’s audio apps, most notably Logic Pro.

Then for all the specifics about updates and the new MacBook Pro, this edition gets to border on the philosophical. There are questions about how Apple can insist that 8GB of unified memory is the same as 16GB RAM, for instance.

Plus there’s another case of the Apple Watch‘s Crash Detection feature saving a life. This time, though, it’s the life of one of our own.
