Trey Ogden Upset With His No-Contest At UFC Vegas 82: ‘I Won The Fight, I Just Hope I Get Paid.’

Trey Ogden believes he got screwed.

Ogden, unfortunately, had a win ripped away from him yesterday at UFC Vegas 82 (Sat., Nov. 18, 2023) from inside the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, when his fight with Nikolas Motta was ruled a no-contest due to referee Mike Beltran calling a premature stop to the bout after a tight arm-triangle choke in the final round (watch highlights).

Because of the dumb referee blunder, the fight should have gone to the judge’s scorecards as the fight went over two and a half rounds and could have been scored. If that had happened, Ogden would have won a technical decision.

Ogden was beyond disappointed with the result and wants to get paid his win money.

“I’m just trying to keep my composure and be a professional. Life happens. I’m no stranger to adversity. But this one hurts,” Ogden told reporters after his fight. “I mean, records are records, numbers are numbers, but I really hope I get my win purse because I deserve it. And I won all three rounds… there’s a tremendous amount of sacrifice that goes into this game and the sport for me and my family and financial sacrifice. I did nothing wrong. I did my job. I fought as hard as I could. It was an exciting fight. It was a tough fight. And I won.

“There’s no way possible Nik was getting out of that [choke]. Anyone who has trained with me knows that; anyone who knows my career knows that and whether he tapped or not. Nik Motta knows he was not getting out. So, in my eyes, I won the fight; I just hope I get paid.”

It is unclear if Ogden will get his second paycheck, and if he’s going on recent UFC history, he probably won’t. Dan Argueta was in the same situation when he locked up a choke against Ronnie Lawrence, but the referee screwed up, and he never got his win money.

Who knows, maybe the UFC brass have had a change of heart in the past five months? (They haven’t).

Ogden is currently 1-2-1 in the promotion.
