Carl Radke has had one hell of a year and I doubt very seriously he would want to repeat it. The Summer House star closed one door by ending his engagement with Lindsay Hubbard, thankfully another one is opening back at Loverboy.
Carl and Kyle Cooke’s friendship took a hit during his relationship with Lindsay. In retrospect, it kind of seemed like Lindsay and Carl vs everyone else because you couldn’t tell those two apart when they were together. But things changed and so did Carl’s mind about getting married. Now he and Kyle have reunited to introduce Carl’s new passion. People has the details.
Sober life will look different in Season 8
Back in the old days, if you didn’t drink, you were kind of screwed. There weren’t a lot of options for the sober gang and a crazy night out was a Coke with no ice. Nowadays there are a plethora of new mocktails for non-drinkers to enjoy and Loverboy is getting in on the action.
This is also a great way for Carl to re-introduce himself to his old job. Kyle and Carl drifted apart during Carl’s engagement and now that Linds is gone, Kyle is back. So is Carl’s job, and that’s good news.
There is no better person to sell a non-alcoholic tea than a non-alcoholic, now Carl can have sober options from his employer… “From an authenticity standpoint, imagine selling something that you’re not a consumer of,” Kyle and his mullet said about Loverboy’s hard teas. “And Carl would tell me that it almost felt awkward to be at some of these Loverboy events with a Red Bull or a non-alc beer in his hand.”
A new brew
I guess a lightbulb went off in Kyle’s brain, so he went to Carl to discuss the new product. He advised his bud, “We’re not going to overthink it. We’re going to take two of our bestsellers on the sparkling hard tea side, and strip out the alcohol.” Believe it or not, summer can be fun without booze.
“People always ask me, ‘How are you still having fun but not drinking?’” Carl revealed. “I’ve gotten more comfortable over time just being in social environments, but the key for me is having something in my hand, something that helps you feel like you’re a part of it,” he added.
And don’t worry about the Loverboy non-alc can calling you out – if you worry about such things. “No one’s going to look at you weird if you’re at a party holding this. I think that’s the point. It’s no longer about standing out like a sore thumb. It’s no longer about having really generic options and feeling like you aren’t partaking if you’re holding a bottle of Poland Spring.”
In January 2024, Carl will have three years of sobriety under his belt. This is a huge accomplishment and he should be proud of his work. Both Kyle and Carl look forward to pushing Loverboy’s new additions to non-drinkers everywhere.
Season 8 of Summer House will return to Bravo, with alcohol-free options, in 2024.
