During the filming of season 11 of Vanderpump Rules, Lala Kent attempted to initiate contact with Rachel Leviss. A decision she now regrets, considering Rachel is not taking as big a step back from the spotlight as Lala initially thought.
“I would not have reached out to her had I known that the Bethenny Frankel podcast was going to happen,” Lala shared with US Weekly. Lala went on to say she wanted to send her message privately without the whole world knowing, but honestly, the fact that Rachel brought it up during the podcast is really not surprising. It’s reality TV, after all.
Out of the spotlight
“I thought that this girl just wanted to go and live in a small town and just fade into the background,” Lala shared. “I thought, you know what, if that’s the life she wants, I want her to know things happen, and I hope you can live peacefully.”
Rachel opted not to return to VPR for the new season, which picks up months after the news about Scandoval broke. Instead, she checked herself into a mental health facility for 90 days and confirmed she wouldn’t be filming more episodes for the show. That’s why Lala reached out.
She had a lot of feelings about what happened, but a part of those conflicted emotions included her tumultuous past with her ex Randall Emmet. Lala knew the feeling of falling for a man saying all the right things and making it seem like a good idea to risk it all.
She left a message for Rachel, saying, “I’m sure I am the last person you expected to hear from. I hope you are doing okay. I don’t know if you are back in L.A. or not, but I would like to have a conversation with you at some point if you are open to that. Hope to talk to you soon.”
Lala made it clear that she was not okay with how Rachel treated Ariana Madix, but as someone who has had to deal with comments about being a mistress, she didn’t want Rachel to have to wear that forever.
Coming clean and thanking the universe!
Lala also told Ariana about her message to Rachel in the premiere episode. Needless to say, Ariana wasn’t happy.
‘It’s kind of wild because for maybe a year, if anyone interacted with Lala’s ex, she was ready to murder them,” Ariana recalled.
At the end of the day, despite not being mad at Lala, Ariana made it clear she had no intentions of letting Rachel back into her life. Can’t say I blame her.
And Lala had to backpedal and regret reaching out too. After the podcast came out, Rachel shared that Lala had reached out to her and she didn’t trust her intentions. She assumed it was all just for the show, Lala changed her mind and decided she was grateful that Rachel didn’t respond.
“The universe really protects me at all costs,” she shared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen. She clarified her message was more of a “Good luck in life…” and not an invitation to be friends again.
TELL US – DO YOU THINK RACHEL SHOULD HAVE KEPT LALA’S MESSAGE PRIVATE? DO YOU THINK LALA WAS IN THE WRONG FOR REACHING OUT?
