Alan Cumming Reveals Scariest Part of Filming The Traitors

Alan Cumming has quite the job hosting Peacock’s highly praised series, The Traitors

Season 2, featuring 21 celebrities competing as Faithfuls or Traitors hoping to win their share of $250,000, has quickly become the most-watched unscripted series across all streaming platforms. And it’s not for nothing.

The highly suspenseful competition series showcases tons of schemes, betrayals, and, of course, drama, as three Traitors (played by Phaedra ParksParvati Shallow, and Dan Gheesling in Season 2) wreak havoc in secret among the Faithful, murdering them one by one until none remain.

Here’s what Alan fears most during The Traitors filming

As the host, Alan has a difficult job being the bearer of secrets and the lucky grantor who bestows power among the Traitors. However, tapping their shoulders covertly during that first roundtable meeting is more of a challenge than one might think.

“It’s the most nerve-wracking thing because I could f*ck up the entire thing,” he told Andy Cohen during a recent Watch What Happens Live appearance.

“And, of course, there were 21 of them rather than 20. So, they were all more squashed, and it was hard to get my arm in.”

The actor revealed that during his strolls around the group of players, he would purposefully play with the fabric on his coat to make noises, hoping to throw other players (with good hearing like Larsa Pippen) off.

“It is actually really scary, and everyone is so tense because it’s the big start of the show,” he continued, adding he took multiple laps around the room before selecting the Traitors. “And I remember Phaedra had a lot of “décolletage. It was really difficult [and] I was really scared I was going to blow it. But, yeah, it is actually the most scary part of the whole thing.”

New episodes of The Traitors are available to stream on Peacock, Thursdays at 9/8c.
