Summary
- Glen Powell’s role as Long-Fingered Boy was mentioned when he presented alongside Issa Rae at the 2024 SAG Awards.
- Glen Powell’s role in Spy Kids franchise, like his costar Elijah Wood, has been forgotten due to their successful careers in hit films like Top Gun 2, despite recent acknowledgments.
- Other talented actors like George Clooney, Holland Taylor, and Emily Osment also appeared in the Spy Kids franchise, but their roles are frequently overlooked due to their extensive work in other projects.
Many actors, like Glen Powell, have appeared in the Spy Kids franchise, but not all of them are remembered for their roles. The SAG Awards included many get-togethers of former castmates. The most notable gathering of the night at the SAG Awards was the 18-year-old reunion of The Devil Wears Prada actresses Emily Blunt, Anne Hathaway, and Meryl Streep. However, a 21-year-old reunion occurred that went overlooked. Two actors from the movie Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over presented awards – Glen Powell and Elijah Woods. Because the two didn’t present together, it’s understandable why this reunion didn’t gain attention.
However, Glen Powell’s role in this film was briefly mentioned. When he went on stage to present with Issa Rae, Rae reminded Powell of his character Long-Fingered Boy in the Spy Kids franchise, acknowledging how far he’s grown in his career. Due to his recent successes, his role in the film has been all but forgotten. This also applies to his costar, Elijah Wood. These two are far from the only actors not remembered for appearing in the Spy Kids franchise.

9 Glen Powell As Long-Fingered Boy
Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over
When he was just 15 years old, Glen Powell took on his first screen-acting role as Long-Fingered Boy in Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over. He hosts the robot competition in the Arena of Misfortune. Nobody remembers Powell’s role in the Spy Kids franchise because he went on to have such a phenomenal career. In the past few years alone, he’s appeared in Top Gun 2 and Anyone But You, two hit films. Top Gun 3 was also confirmed this year, with Powell’s character likely returning. Ultimately, his role as Long-Fingered Boy will disappear into obscurity as Powell’s career continues growing.
8 Elijah Wood As The Guy
Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over
Throughout Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over, there’s multiple mentions of a legendary character called “The Guy.” The character, played by Elijah Wood, finally appears to help Carmen and Juni get to the unwinnable level in the video game. While this Spy Kids cameo was notable due to the popularity of the actor, Wood’s role as The Guy is forgettable because it occurred so closely in conjunction with his biggest movies to date – The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Spy Kids 3-D took place between The Twin Towers and The Return of the King.
7 Selena Gomez As Waterpark Girl
Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over
Selena Gomez’s early years are mostly remembered for her time on Barney & Friends; however, she also appeared as Waterpark Girl in Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over within her first year and a half of acting. This character appeared onscreen for less than a minute but undeniably showed off Gomez’s acting chops. The actress managed to maintain serious composure despite the silly conversation about someone stealing water from a water park. Since making it big acting in multiple DCOMs and Disney Channel shows, the multi-hyphenate celebrity has gone on to have a successful career acting, producing, and making music.

6 George Clooney As Diego Devlin
Spy Kids and Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over
The idea of Oscar-winning actor George Clooney acting in a kids’ James Bond parody seems laughable, but he appeared as Diego Devlin in the movie Spy Kids franchise. In the first Spy Kids, Devlin is the head of the Organization of Super Spies, the espionage group that has the Spy Kids subdivision. By the time he makes a cameo in Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over, Devlin is the President of the United States. While jarring at first thought, Clooney’s Spy Kids role mirrors his later role as the intelligent leader and conman Danny Ocean in three of the Ocean’s movies.
5 Danny Trejo As Uncle Machete
Spy Kids, Spy Kids 2: The Island of Lost Dreams, Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over, Spy Kids 4: All The Time In the World
Danny Trejo plays Uncle Machete, one of the few characters who appears in almost all the Spy Kids movies. Despite this, many people wouldn’t recognize him for his role in Spy Kids because he’s been in so many other iconic movies. Trejo is one of the most prolific Hollywood actors of all time, amassing an incredible 431 acting credits to date, with 31 upcoming projects already lined up. Starting in 1991, the actor appeared in at least 4 movies and TV shows every year, maintaining this even during COVID-19. As such, his Spy Kids role is frequently forgotten.
4 Christopher McDonald As President Of The USA
Spy Kids 2: The Island of Lost Dreams
In Spy Kids 2: The Island of Lost Dreams, Juni and Carmen go on a mission to save the President’s daughter. Christopher McDonald plays the President of the USA; however, he’s easily forgotten when talking about the cast. There are two main reasons why McDonald is a forgettable actor in the Spy Kids franchise. Firstly, the character only appears onscreen for a brief period of time. Secondly, in Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over, he’s no longer the President, being replaced by Devlin. Consequently, it’s easy to misremember that Devlin was always the President of the United States.
3 Holland Taylor As Helga Avellan/Grandma
Spy Kids 2: The Island of Lost Dreams and Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over
Emmy-winning actress Holland Taylor plays “Grandma,” aka Helga Avellan, in Spy Kids 2: Island of Lost Dreams, returning for a cameo in Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over. Taylor is a forgotten member of the Spy Kids family because she’s appeared in much better-known shows and movies, including Mr. Mercedes, To All The Boy: P.S. I Still Love You, and Two and a Half Men. Currently, she’s playing Cybil Richards in the cast of The Morning Show. Consequently, despite her incredible performance as Helga, she’ll probably never get the recognition for this role that she deserves.
2 Emily Osment As Gerti Giggles
Spy Kids 2: The Island of Lost Dreams And Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over
A few years into acting, Emily Osment of Hannah Montana fame played Gerti Giggles, Juni’s spy nemesis in Spy Kids 2: Island of Lost Dreams. A year later, the franchise brought her back as a cameo in Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over, where she fought alongside Juni and Carmen against the Toymaker. Despite playing a large role in the second Spy Kids movie, most people forget that Emily Osment appeared in this franchise because it occurred so early in her career. Additionally, she’s taken on roles in many big-name sitcoms, including The Kominsky Method, Young & Hungry, and Netflix’s Pretty Smart.
Spy Kids’ Cortez Family Tree Explained
The Spy Kids franchise continues to grow, and so does the amount of characters, so let’s have a refresh who’s who in the series’ Cortez family
1 Bill Paxton As Dinky Winks
Spy Kids 2: The Island of Lost Dreams and Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over
The late Bill Paxton played a small role as Dinky Winks in Spy Kids 2: The Island of Lost Dreams and again in Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over. Like many of the other actors in the Spy Kids franchise, Paxton is forgotten because he was already known for playing such big roles in other movies and TV shows. The actor played Private Hudson in the movie Aliens and Bill Harding in the movie Twister – the latter of which now has the sequel Twisters coming out. Despite this, Paxton’s Spy Kids role will always warm the hearts of fans everywhere.
