While I love the Real Housewives of Potomac, this season has been slow, and I mean glacial. Watching the paint dry, slow. Robyn Dixon isn’t sharing anything about her personal life. Half the RHOP cast refuses to film with each other over lawsuits. And while I love me some Karen Huger, there are only so many episodes I can watch that revolve around her second life in Surry County. The series is in dire straits, and it needs help. We’ve already seen multiple city reboots with success. So the big question is, will the ladies of Potomac be next?
You Can’t Have A Show When the Cast Won’t Film Together
After her fight with Monique Samuels, Candiace Dillard Bassett put her foot down by telling the network that she would never film with her foe again. It seems the singer has taken her mistaken win against Bravo further for RHOP Season 8. Candiace won’t interact with Ashley Darby due to Michael Darby suing the former model for her insulting oral sex comments. Ashley has tried to have a conversation with Candiace, but she has continually shut down and not entertained.
On the flip side, Robyn and Gizelle Bryant won’t interact with Candiace on camera. Candiace has a way of running her mouth and feeling as if there will never be any repercussions, but the green-eyed bandits are sticking to the silent treatment.
During Season 7, Gizelle accused Chris Bassett of making her feel uncomfortable, telling Robyn, “Many a married man have tried me, and I felt like he was trying to see if I was with it. He was complaining about his wife. So he was letting me know he was unhappy. Maybe I was supposed to say, ‘Oh, I can make you happy.’ Like, get out of here. He’s a sneaky link!”
Without proper friendships, there is nothing for the cameras to catch.
Robyn Withholds Storyline Information
Viewers and cast members alike are not thrilled with how Robyn has been keeping all her cards close to her chest when it comes to her relationship with Juan Dixon. Amid infidelity claims, Robyn is acting like nothing is going wrong even though Juandering Juan has been caught out and about with multiple women. Yet, Real Housewives of Potomac fans have not had any major updates as we near the end of the season. Robyn actually had the audacity to spill some tea on her podcast, Reasonably Shady, but withheld information from the show that pays her.
Is it time to fire Robyn? Possibly. I mean, she is actively keeping interesting information to herself. I totally get she may want her privacy, but to that, I say don’t be a housewife. Every Bravo star knows exactly what they are signing up for, so if you don’t like the merry-go-round, then it is time to get off the ride.
Season 8 is showing Robyn being a real stick in the mud and she is coming across to viewers as miserable. Thanks to Robyn’s lack of vulnerability, fans are becoming extremely frustrated with her, with many thinking don’t let the door hit you on the way out, Rob.
Nneka vs. Wendy Storyline Failed
I really, REALLY wanted Nneka Ihim to waltz onto the Real Housewives of Potomac and bond with her Nigerian sister, Wendy Osefo. But instead, I was given a witch storyline surrounding Wendy’s mother. I also watched as Dr. Wendy became more and more petty when it came to Nneka instead of being gracious and welcoming. The ‘Shrine Drama’ was perhaps one of the most storylines, especially when it became clear that Wendy was feeding her mother a script of what to say regarding the matter.
Whether RHOP Season 8 is a flop season or an emerging pattern, something has to change. The Real Housewives of Potomac has always been a trend-setting franchise, especially since it features and all-Black and biracial cast. I don’t want to see it go. For the most part, I like the women and their once-strong friendships. But lines have to be drawn in the sand if Bravo is going to try and salvage what is left.
