The novel Stinger takes place over a single-day period in a Texas town that is rattled with issues surrounding gang violence, racial tensions, and poverty. The issues in this already-cracked town are exposed when two UFOs crash on the outskirts of the town, the second bringing with it an alien known as Stinger. As the town faces their own internal battles, they must also now face this external threat as Stinger brings with him advanced technology and great powers of destruction of the town.

Every James Wan Horror Franchise Ranked From Worst to Best

Director James Wan recently returned to horror with Malignant, but here’s a look at how the three prior horror franchises he created stack up.

The exact plot of Teacup has yet to be confirmed, but it is known that the story will move from Texas to rural Georgia. It will be a horror-thriller that focuses on a group of people’s plight to survive as they face an external threat. Whether they will follow the conceit of the book and lay out events over the course of a 24-hour period still remains to be seen, but likely that timeline will be expanded as Teacup makes a full TV series out of Stinger.

Wan, the visionary horror voice behind works like Saw and The Conjuring, will executive produce the series. Co-producing with Wan is The Haunting of Bly Manor’s E.L. Katz, who is also expected to direct the series. Yellowstone writer Ian McCulloch will write the script for Teacup. While there is still a lot left to discover about Teacup, the series has found a strong lead in Strahovski.
