The Conners Season 6 Drops A Massive Clue It Won’t Solve Its Big Dan Problem

Summary

  • The Conners season 6 poster leaves out Dan’s new wife Louise, raising questions about her role in the show and the family.
  • Despite being expected to have a bigger role in season 6, Louise’s absence from the poster casts doubts on her prominence.
  • Louise will be focused on working hard with Dan to get their finances righted and will have her own venture, but it’s unclear how prominent she will be in The Conners season 6.

The newly-released The Conners season 6 poster suggests that it won’t fix its main issue with Dan’s story. ABC’s premier comedy will soon return after an extended hiatus due to the 2023 SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes. While the Roseanne spinoff sequel has built its own loyal following, which is a mix of legacy fans and new ones, marketing for the project is currently in high gear, with new promotional materials offering an idea of what to expect from the short but vital season for The Conners.

Several trailers and sneak peeks have been released by ABC thus far for the Lanford family’s upcoming return to the small screen. However, arguably its best promotional item thus far is The Conners season 6’s group poster. Much like every TV series, a brand new one-sheet is debuted every time it opens a new year. For The Conners, ABC has been creative with its posters — just as long as it features the core Conner family members. Season 6, however, incorporates a deep-cut Roseanne Easter egg, effectively honoring its legacy. However, it’s missing one vital element, connecting to Dan’s journey.

The Conners season 6 will only have 13 episodes compared to its usual 20 yearly output.

The Conners Season 6 Family Poster Leaves Louise Out

ABC’s official The Conners season 6 poster features the established main characters; Becky, Darlene, Ben, Harris, Mark, Jackie, and Dan all front the one-sheet, which isn’t a surprise, considering that they have all been its primary narrative drivers in recent years. That said, Dan’s new wife, Louise, is left out of the marketing image, which raises questions about her role both in the show and in the eponymous family. Despite being relatively new to the clan, she is expected to play a bigger role in season 6 since she recently ended her touring days, intending to live with Dan full-time.

Several years after Roseanne passed away, Dan started a new romance, which led to him walking down the aisle again. The Conners did a great job developing the relationship, especially considering how long and iconic Dan’s previous marriage was. Despite getting married, however, Louise was barely a factor in The Conners. Previous seasons were able to excuse her absence by sending her on tour. However, she has officially retired from being on the road in season 5, with the assumption that she will be more present in The Conners season 6, but this new poster casts doubts on that idea.

How Much Will The Conners Season 6 Feature Louise?

She may not be featured in the poster, but Louise is already confirmed to make a The Conners season 6 appearance. This picks up on her set-up towards the end of season 5, where she comes home and settles in with Dan. According to producer Bruce Helford in an interview with TV Line, she and Dan’s story will be focused on “working hard this season to try and get their finances righted and get a handle on the mortgage.”

Separately, Louise will start working at the Lunch Box as a way to earn money now that she no longer goes on tours. However, Helford shares that she will also “branch out on a venture of her own.” Despite having a clear arc at the start, it doesn’t guarantee that Louise will be more prominent in The Conners season 6, however. Perhaps her new venture may even be another reason to explain her potential future absence.

The Conners season 6 premieres on Wednesday, February 7, 8pm ET on ABC.
