Spaceman premiered at the 74th Berlin International Film Festival on February 21, 2024. It had a limited theatrical release on February 23, 2024, before it debuted on the streaming giant Netflix on March 1, 2024. Despite an early Rotten Tomatoes audience score of 84%, Spaceman’s critical score on the site is at 60% with a Metacritic score of 57 as of the time of writing, indicating a divided critic pool. The film is considered a space sci-fi adventure movie despite Sandler’s celebrated history as a comedic actor.
