Apple updates its Windows Migration Assistant

Apple updates Windows Migration Assistant for macOS Sonoma

Apple has released an update for its tool to help users transfer from a Windows PC to a Mac specific to macOS Sonoma.

The Windows Migration Assistant is a software program developed by Apple that helps users transfer data from a Windows-based computer to a Mac system. It can transfer a variety of data such as contacts, calendars, email accounts, music, pictures, movies, documents, and other types of files from the Windows PC to the Mac.

The new update, released on Thursday, supports macOS Sonoma, Apple’s latest version of its Mac operating system. Version 3.0.0.0 continues to function with no major changes to how it works, except it is fully compatible with macOS Sonoma.

After deciding to transfer files, users must enter their administrator credentials, choose their PC from the available list, verify passcodes on both Windows and Mac displays, select the files and data to be transferred, and initiate the migration process.

The latest Migration Assistant requires the Mac to run macOS Sonoma 14.4 or later, and it is only compatible with PCs that are running Windows 10 or later. The tool worked fine before Thursday’s update, so it’s not clear why the specific update was required.
