Indiana Pacers guard Bennedict Mathurin will miss at least four games with a shoulder injury he suffered in Tuesday’s victory against the Mavericks in Dallas.
Coach Rick Carlisle said Mathurin will be evaluated next week and that he’s hoping the injury is not serious as the Pacers try to reclaim a spot in the Eastern Conference’s top six.
“He’s a guy who bounces back very quickly and hates missing game,” Carlisle told reporters on Thursday. “We hope that it’s relatively short term, but he will miss a week at least.”
Mathurin, the MVP of last month’s NBA Rising Stars game as part of All-Star Weekend, is averaging 14.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists in his second season for Indiana.
