The Unknown
has been released, with filming to commence soon.
As night follows day, so will a big screen adaptation of a real-life disaster eventually happen. But this one seems even quicker than usual, as a horror movie based on the recent Willy Wonka experience is now in the works. According to Bloody Disgusting, the project is titled The Unknown, which was the name given to the mysterious (and made up) villain at the event, with Scotland-based film production company Kaledonia Pictures behind the horror flick.
Despite the speed of the announcement, an official synopsis for the adaptation has also been released, which you can check out below.
“The film, gearing up for production and a late 2024 release, follows a renowned illustrator and his wife who are haunted by the tragic death of their son, Charlie. Desperate to escape their grief, the couple leave the world behind for the remote Scottish Highlands – where an unknowable evil awaits them.”
The Unknown is a silver-faced evil cholate maker who lives inside the walls of Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory (none of this is from the beloved Roald Dahl story or any of the Willy Wonka movies). The villainous character appeared in all manner of footage from the Willy Wonka experience, during which they were often met with the haunting screams of children.
Kaledonia Pictures has also released a statement regarding The Unknown saying:
“We are excited to begin production and look forward to sharing more with you as soon as possible. We are actually only a few miles from the event, so it is quite surreal to see Glasgow all over social media, worldwide.”
The Unknown Is Aiming for a 2024 Release
The viral Willy Wonka Experience event which took place in Glasgow, Scotland came courtesy of organizers House of Illuminati, and has spawned all manner of different memes and reactions as disappointed parents share images and footage from the disaster. A disaster which cost them all £35 (around $44) a ticket. Marvel star and Scottish actress Karen Gillan has even weighed in, pleading for a role in the event’s revival or an adaptation.
“PLEASE CAST ME IN THIS. (like a movie based on this story, not the actual thing. Actually, no, either is fine)”
No doubt the studio behind The Unknown is frantically searching for Gillan’s number as we speak…
Wonka 2 Plans Teased by Director: ‘It’s Definitely Something We’re Thinking About’
Wonka director Paul King is now thinking about Wonka 2, but doesn’t want to rush things.
The actor behind The Unknown character in the Willy Wonka experience has since unmasked herself and been revealed as a 16-year-old actress in her first paid acting job. Felicia took to social media to reveal that it was she who had been behind the mask, telling BBC Scotland News:
“It was so ridiculous it was actually funny…There weren’t any rehearsals. I got there early to practise but it hadn’t been set up. The actors came up later and it still hadn’t been set up. We were all saying it was a mess and there hadn’t been any organisation, but we were just hoping that together it wouldn’t be that bad. But it was.”
Hoping to strike while we all still remember the fallout from the event,
The Unknown
is aiming for release in late 2024.
