The Night Agent Season 2 Cast & Returning Character Guide

The Night Agent is back on Netflix for a second season, and though its stars remain the same, there are several new characters and cast members for audiences to familiarize themselves with. The Night Agent’s season 1 ending saw Peter Sutherland save the president’s life, causing him to be promoted from Night Action to Night Agent, meaning he’s moving from the basement telephone desk to the field of international operations. Much of the second season will be about whether Peter is up to the task or if his success in season 1 was a fluke.

Of course, Gabriel Basso will be returning to play the lead role as Peter Sutherland, with Luciane Buchanan joining him as his partner in crime (or law), Rose Larkin. That being said, the season will explore primarily new characters and a new conspiracy, meaning several members of the original cast won’t be returning, including Hong Chau’s Diane Farr, Robert Patrick’s Jamie Hawkins, and more. With so many new faces, The Night Agent’s season 2 story is able to be just as exciting and mysterious as the first, though with the added bonus of familiarity with the two leads.

Gabriel Basso as Peter Sutherland Jr.

Born December 11, 1994

Actor: Gabriel Basso was born in St. Louis, Missouri, and started acting in 2007 with a minor role as Kid with Cancer in the comedy movie Meet Bill. He gained notoriety for his role in the Showtime series The Big C and has since developed a solid filmography for himself, working with directors like Clint Eastwood and J.J. Abrams on critically acclaimed films. The Night Agent is his most prominent and widely seen work so far, but he can be found in supporting roles in movies like Juror #2, The Strangers: Chapter 1, and more.

Character: After The Night Agent season 1’s ending, Peter Sutherland has a new role in the show’s second season as a proper Night Agent. Events pick up with him on a mission with his new partner, Alice, in Bangkok, Thailand, where matters go awry. Once again, he’s present during a tragic moment with a grander conspiracy to unravel.

Luciane Buchanan as Rose Larkin

Born July 18, 1993

Actor: Luciane Buchanan is an actress from New Zealand who got her first role playing Cherie James in the biographical drama Billy. Her first notable role in her home country was Aroha Nash in the New Zealand TV show The Blue Rose. Buchanan’s first role that gained her international notoriety was The Night Agent season 1, and she’ll next be starring in an Apple TV+ historical drama called Chief of War alongside Jason Momoa and Temuera Morrison.

Character: In The Night Agent, Luciane Buchanan plays Rose Larkin. At the end of season 1, Rose set out to use her ingenuity to start her own company, and she’s worked on software that allows her to track people based on gathered data from various social media platforms. However, when events pick back up in season 2, things haven’t gone as smoothly in Rose’s civilian life as she’d hoped.

Amanda Warren as Catherine Weaver

Born July 17, 1982

Actor: Amanda Warren is an American actress from New York City who’s best known for her role on the HBO mystery series The Leftovers. Aside from The Night Agent, she’s appeared in supporting and guest roles in numerous prominent movies and TV shows. In film, she’s played characters in two films by acclaimed director Martin McDonagh, Seven Psychopaths and the Best Picture-nominated Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. On TV, she’s been in Gossip Girl, The Good Wife, and more.

Character: Catherine Weaver is an exciting new character in The Night Agent season 2 who actively helps Peter and Rose. She and Peter don’t trust one another at first, and she even suggests that he take a step back before the Bangkok mission. However, they become reluctant allies, with Catherine being Peter’s senior at Night Action.

Arienne Mandi as Noor

Born April 8, 1994

Actor: Arienne Mandi is an American actress from Los Angeles, California, whose most notable performances include guest roles in famous shows like NCIS: Los Angeles and Hawaii Five-0. In 2023, she starred in an award-nominated film called Tatami prior to landing a prominent role in The Night Agent’s sophomore season for Netflix.

Character: Noor is another new protagonist in The Night Agent season 2 who works at the Iranian Mission to the UN. She’s providing the US with secret information on Iran in return for getting her mother and brother out of her home country to be brought to New York with her.
