Third iOS 18.3, iPadOS 18.3, macOS 15.3 developer betas arrive

Examples of Apple Intelligence at work.

Apple is rounding out its third batch of developer betas for the current generation, handing out new builds of iOS 18.3, iPadOS 18.3, macOS 15.3, and visionOS 2.3 for testing.

The third round of betas for iOS 18.3, iPadOS 18.3, macOS 15.3, and visionOS 2.2 follow after the second, which appeared on January 7. The first round arrived on December 16.

The new beta batch follow after earlier releases of the third builds of watchOS 11.3 and tvOS 18.3, which landed on January 14.

The third iOS 18.3 and iPadOS 18.3 developer betas share build number 22D5055b, replacing 22D5040d. The third macOS Sequoia 15.3 build is 24D5055b, up from 24D5040f, and the third visionOS 2.3 build is 22N5894a.

For the most part, the developer beta for iOS 18.3 offers no major noteworthy features, but there were references in the second to an unreleased application. Referred to as “Invites,” it’s thought to offer ways for users to schedule meetings, and invite people to them.

Official release notes for the first build mentioned a fix for Genmoji when a personalized image may not generate unless a different person is selected first. There was also a fix for the Writing Tools API, used by third-party apps.

AppleInsider and Apple strongly advise that users do not install test operating systems or other beta or RC software onto “mission-critical” or primary hardware, due to the small chance of issues that could result in the loss of data. Testers should therefore use secondary or non-essential devices and make sure they have sufficient backups of any critical data.
