WARNING: SPOILERS ahead for Dexter: Original Sin episode 8.Dexter: Original Sin episode 8 continues to expand on the reappearance of a classic Dexter season 1 villain that creates an original series mystery. After speculation that Dexter’s brother, Brian Moser, was supposedly spotted in Dexter: Original Sin, episode 7 confirmed that he – better known as The Ice Truck Killer – was indeed a part of the prequel series. Brian is also depicted in various flashback scenes with Harry and Laura, Dexter and Brian’s mom, but doesn’t have a big role since he and Dexter are still kids.
Although Dexter is unaware that Brian is in Miami and went on a killing spree resulting in three murders, Harry discovers that Brian was a patient of a psychologist who was killed in Tampa Bay. Harry and Maria LaGuerta spend most of their day running through hundreds of the doctor’s patient files in episode 8, which is how Harry connects Brian to the series of murders in Miami. Harry keeps Brian’s file to himself, determined to keep him a buried secret and off the radars of both Miami Metro and Dexter.

Brian Tries To Get Dexter & Harry’s Attention With A String Of Murders In The Prequel Series
It’s already determined that Brian and Dexter will not reunite in Original Sin considering how Dexter season 1 went down. Brain disguised himself as Rudy Cooper and fell into a relationship with Deb all to lure Dexter into the remarkable twist that he was actually his big brother, all grown up. Since Dexter didn’t recognize Brian throughout season 1 and earlier in Original Sin, his and Dexter’s story will not begin in the prequel series. That being said, Brian could pop up again and may even confront Harry.

Now that Brian is revealed as the NHI killer in Original Sin, it’s clear that he’s trying to get Dexter and Harry’s attention. This raises the question as to why it takes another 15 years after the events of Dexter: Original Sin, which takes place in 1991, for Brian to finally reemerge and tease Dexter with the truth about their shared past. It’s possible that Brian could adopt another false identity to talk to Dexter in a potential Original Sin season 2, but that would run the risk of undermining Rudy Cooper’s alias and the integrity of Dexter season 1.

He Could Be Mirroring Dexter’s Kills Or They Could Be Biologically Linked
Brian’s appearance in Original Sin confirms that he and Dexter started killing at or around the same time. By episode 8, Dexter has a few kills under his belt, including Nurse Mary, Tony Ferrer, and Levi Reed. Since Moser also has three known kills at this point, he could be intentionally mirroring Dexter’s kills.
